Glue and Glitter Necklace

Girly girls, this project is for you! Create a Glue and Glitter Necklace by Heidi Borchers and you'll be sure to stand out from the crowd. Use Aleene's Tacky Glue as one of your jewelry craft supplies - you'll love the look of this unique piece.

Materials:

  • Aleene’s Easy Flow Tacky Glue
  • Glitter – fine ( I used Crafty Chica Glitter by iLovetoCreate)
  • Die cutting maching (I used Sizzix Big Shot)
  • Floral die (I used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals)
  • Plastic cup
  • Craft stick
  • Measuring spoons
  • Plastic sheets ( I used clear shrink plastic)
  • Knitting needle (to roll beads on)
  • Squeegee (I used an old credit card)
  • Jewelry wire
  • Glass beads
  • Hole punch
  • Embroidery floss
  • Wax paper

Instructions:

  1. Place supplies on your work space covered with waxed paper.

  2. Measure 2 tablespoons of glue into cup, and 2 to 3 teaspoons of glitter.

  3. Stir the glitter glue mixture until completely mixed.

  4. Pour glitter glue mixture onto the clear plastic sheet.

  5. Using the squeegee, squeegee the glue and glitter mixture across the plastic in an even layer.

  6. Let the glue and glitter dry over night, or until the glue has dried clear.

  7. Cut the glue and glitter sheet into rectangles approximately 1” x 2” for each bead. Place glue onto the top edge of the lue and glitter rectangle.

  8. Wrap the rectangle over knitting needle.

  9. Repeat to make all beads for the necklace.

  10. Thread glue and glitter beads onto beading wire with a glass bead in between each glue and glitter bead. Add jewelry closure to ends.
     
  11. To create flowers, place glitter sheet on die and cut flowers. (I used 3 colors of glitter sheets for the layers.) Using hole punch, punch a hole in center of each flower with paper punch. Thread 6″ piece of embroidery floss through bead. Layer flowers and thread both ends of embroidery floss through punched holes. Tie flower onto necklace where desired, knotting ends. Place glue on knot. Let dry completely and cut excess ends of floss. If desired, you can also glue flower to necklace.
