To create some fun texture and interest cover your canvas in Scrapbook paper, Paint or Vintage book pages! To adhere any sort of paper mix two parts water to one part school glue or Mod Podge. Paint your paper with your glue mixture and lay smoothly on your canvas. Once the entire canvas is covered let it dry over night before moving onto the next step.

When it's dried completely lay your two canvases next to each other.

This is a super cute idea. It opens up a lot of possibilities of using newspaper or book pages for backgrounds. I do not have a steady enough hand to color over a picture, so I will die-cut my shapes. I like the idea of cutting shapes in seasonal themes and colors, like black cats and bats for Halloween, and blue snowflakes for winter.

Notes to consider Pages from old books are not acid-free. Using a smallish paint brush with acrylic craft paint might be quicker than markers.

This could be done with tons of exciting backgrounds!

I love it

This is so great. I have several old cork boards that are framed that this would look wonderful doing.

Super cute and easy....I can't wait to make one!!

luuuuuuv it

I just made this last night and absolutely love it. Thanks for posting :)

Super cute! You could make smaller ones one smaller canvases for quick gifts. Also, you could make ANY animal and their habitat. I tried bears in a forest (trees) and it was SUPER cute

this is awesome. I've done this before but used sheet music, printouts, and an x-acto knife. It came out really cute.

This is a fantastic craft idea! I love the outdoors and always looking for new ways to express my love of nature. This is a great way to recycle old books and newspapers too!

Love this. What a great idea. This could also be done with black vinyl on the Cricut Machine. The new cartridge, Pagoda, has some beautiful images in oriental motif. I am going to get busy and try a few different versions. Thanks!

This is really nice! Thank you :)

I just love this one...will be next on my list :)
