I like this pattern. I will make it with a plain contrasting border, not the stripes. I think the pattern is meant to be - Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *hdc in next st, sl st in next st, repeat from * to last st, sc. Row 2: Turn. Ch 1, sc in sc, *hdc in sl st, sl st in hdc, repeat from * across with sc in last sc. Hope this helps. I am currently doing a similar pattern so it made sense to me right away.

Hi Lisa! Your Crunch Stitch Potholder is really pretty. I would love to make it but, although I have crocheted for years, I am not understanding your instructions for this potholder. My problem starts with Row 2. Is there a reason that an asterisk appears before the "hdc" in Rows 1 and 2? Something like that usually appears before a series of stitches that are to be repeated within a row. That doesn't seem to be the case here. Also, using the instructions in Row 2 as they are printed, I don't understand how I get to the last stitch in the row. Three stitches are made and then you are supposed to be at the end of the row. It is almost as though there has been a misprint in the pattern. Thanks in advance for your help, Denver Silver

I am having a horrible time with the instructions. I have been crocheting for about 43 years, but no matter how I follow the notes, it's just not sinking in lol. Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

Nuliane 0261660, you sound a lot like me. I can look at most anything and copy it but reading directions really baffle me and make me confused. I thought I was the only one!! :-)

What a pretty pattern. I will make this in the green called for. It will look nice with yellow in my travel trailer. I was taught to crochet as a child and did lots of doilies (that tells my age). Now I make clothes and accessories for my home. I really enjoy this site and look forward to using patterns posted here. Thanks. PS Would really like to have the pattern for the pineapple skirt.
