Materials:

  • Empty toilet paper roll
  • Empty egg carton tray
  • White cotton filling
  • 3.4” square dark grey felt
  • 3” square red felt
  • 10” x 1.2” strip of sky blue felt
  • Pair of 8mm wiggle eyes
  • One 10mm wide red button
  • One copper button
  • Wooden kebab stick
  • White acrylic paint
  • Artline 210 Fineliner black pen
  • Orange, black and light blue felt-tip pens
  • Paintbrush
  • Standard scissors
  • Thick embroidery needle
  • Needle and thread
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)

Instructions:

  1. From the egg tray, cut a circle that would fit on top of the toilet paper roll.

  2. Paint the toilet paper roll with the white paint and allow to dry thoroughly.

  3. Make the snowman’s hat:
    1.  Spread glue on the egg tray circle and add the grey felt square to the glue. Allow to dry thoroughly.

    2.  Cut the felt into a circle slightly bigger than the egg tray circle.

    3.  Add the button as a decoration.

  4. Cut off the end of the kebab stick and use the orange felt-tip pen to add color to it. This will be the snowman’s nose.

  5. Color the rest of the kebab stick with the black felt-tip pen and allow to dry.

  6. Use the embroidery needle to make two holes on the sides of the roll.

  7. Push the kebab stick through the holes and measure an arm length of 1.3” on each side. Cut off the rest of the kebab stick and add glue to the inside of the roll, so that the stick won’t come loose.

  8. Glue the snowman’s hat on his head.

  9. Glue the wiggle eyes in place, and then add the nose.

  10. Use the light blue felt-tip pen to add frozen cheeks and the black pen to add a mouth and freckles.

  11. Glue the cotton filling around the bottom part of the toilet paper roll, and use the scissors to give it a round shape.

  12. Make the snowman’s mittens:
    1. Cut two circles each with a diameter of 1” from the red felt.

    2. Add a running stitch all around the edge of each mitten and draw the stitches in to create a little draw bag, before ending the running stitches with a secure knot.

    3. Add glue to the inside of each draw bag and glue them to the ends of the kebab arms.

  13. Make the snowman’s scarf:
    1. At both ends of the blue felt strip make small incisions, so that it will look as if the scarf has fringes.

    2. Fold the scarf in two and stitch the two sides together to make a thick scarf.

  14. Fold the scarf around the snowman’s neck and glue it together where the sides cross on the front, and glue the button on the scarf.
