Oh WOW! I can't believe I stumbled across this DIY Coffee Pot Homemade Terrarium! I have air plants...a set of 12 of them...on my amazon wish list. I'm always seeing these coffee pot carafes at my local thrift store and my son started drinking coffee in college and just got his own home. I think I'll be putting one of these together for his birthday this summer! Thanks for this awesome idea!!!

Terrariums are coming back in style. With all of the succulents out there you will have more trouble deciding what succulent to place in the terrarium than what vessel to place them in. For the avid coffee drinker, this would be a cute project to complete.

I think this is a great way to re-purpose those coffee pot carafe . However, at my house, it is the carafe that gets broken before the brewing unit. I have on occasion seen stray carafes in the second hand store. I just like the fact that this is quirky and unexpected.

These are so adorable. I kind of want to do this for my desk at work to both get some greenery on there and give a subtle nod to my dependency on coffee.

How CUTE! I can't believe I've never thought to do this before

She says that she used a mini coffee pot carafe. Heck, I would use a full sized 10-12 cup carafe! This is so kitschy and unusual and that is exactly why I love it! It is giftable for a coffee drinker/coffee lover and also for a plant lover. That's cross gifting. It is so darn inexpensive to make if you love found objects- like, stuff from around your house! Check the dollar store for the pebbles and stones and sand for more bang for your buck! I am seriously excited about doing this.

What a cute repurposing idea! Good tip about the misting the plants (instead of watering).

I have the carafes from two coffee makers that dies from overwork - no idea why I kept them, but they might be needed if ever I broke the next one (using a different type now) - NOW I know why I kept them a coffee-tarium for me and one for a friend. A brilliant idea. Thank to the creator.

The coffee pot is what makes it so unusual. Why change that? It will look adorable in the kitchen. The lid keeps moisture inside so they won't dry out in my Florida air conditioned home. Now who is laughing at me for not listening and tossing out my glass pot when I was giving a pod coffee maker? I said I would find a use for the pot and I just did.

This is awesome! How clever too! It makes for a very original conversation piece in your home. I can see this in a young adults apartment with an eclectic or bohemian style. It is also a great way to use up the coffee pot if you have decided to quit caffeine all together. Very fun. The handle makes it practical too so you can carry it to a sink to get water for the plants.

This is a great idea Enid. I like your grandmother also loved plants in the house. I loved them so much that I actually had a sweet potato vine growing all around my living room widow and strung string along wall so it would creep along it. This is so cute and great for a child to do except the glass coffee pot. Never tried air plants before but I am going to give it a try. Is everyone having good results so far? I love that you have included the Air plant care guide. Thanks for posting.

This is a really cute Idea, but I don't really like the coffee pot look. Can this be done in maybe just a glass bowl? Is there a need for the lid? I cant wait to try this with my 11 year old.She will enjoy making one for her bedroom.

I'm not really crazy about the coffee pot look either, although it is a clever way to reuse an old pot. You can use any clear container you like with or without a lid, depending on the plants you wish to grow. There are many beautiful shapes and sizes of containers, something to suit all tastes.

This is super awesome. You can totally find coffee pots at Goodwill or something. Wait, what was that? The thrift store is calling me? OK I'll just come over.
