Christmas Ornaments Tablecloth

Materials:

  • White tablecloth
  • Fabrics – assorted holiday prints, gold moiré
  • Iron-on fusible web
  • Dimensional paints – assorted colors to complement fabrics
  • Aleene’s® Stop Fraying® Glue
  • Assorted lengths and widths ribbon
  • Patterns

Instructions:

Wash and dry tablecloth and fabrics. Do not use fabric softener in the wash or dry cycle. Fuse web to wrong side of fabrics. Determine number of ornaments, large balls, small balls and stars needed to decorate edge of tablecloth. Transfer ornament patterns to fabrics and cut out. Cut stars from gold moiré. Following package instructions, fuse cutouts to tablecloth along each edge, overlapping cutouts slightly. Lay tablecloth flat on smooth working surface. Referring to photo, outline and embellish cutouts with dimensional paints. Add wavy paint lines with dimensional paints to create appearance that ornaments are hanging. Let paint dry.

To prevent raveling along edges of tablecloth that will be trimmed, apply line of glue to wrong side of tablecloth along paint lines of ornaments. Let dry. Cut close along bottom edge of paint lines to create a random scalloped effect on tablecloth. (See photo) Tie each ribbon in bow. Glue bows to tablecloth randomly as desired. Let dry.

Do not wash tablecloth for at least 1 week. Wash by hand and hang to dry.

This really has a high end look, just like the ones you can buy at some pricey home decor stores! The use of gold lame or other metallic fabric really sets this apart! For a variation, you could also create a little holly leaf and some red berries in the center and add that in here and there for a bit of interest and fed and green accents! So pretty, and great instructions too!

Beautiful. I hope I get to make one !

Beautiful design! Thanks for sharing...

This is beautiful !! A person could also crochet the ornaments and then tack them on the table cloth and still add the paint to embellish and create the appearance that the ornaments are hanging. Betty Boop
