Here's a "bright" idea!  Trash to treasure decor is always fun and inspiring, and this Illuminating Cake Stand from Jamielyn Nye is proof of that!  Made from an old chandelier, this cupcake chandelier stand will be the highlight of any party tablescape!

  2. Once the glue is set, take the chandelier outside and give it a good coat of primer. Then spray paint it with your choice of color...we used a dusty light pink. Once it is all dry, trim the circles with pearls or ribbon.

There are so many old chandeliers in thrift stores just waiting to get bought to be turned into something so spectacular as this cake stand for a wedding, a birthday or your own house. Add some lace, bows or ribbon. What a great looking piece this would be in a bakery to hold a small cake or even cupcakes or a event. This can be used for many things. What a great idea and this tutorial makes it easy to make.

In the process of making one now for my oldest daughter's wedding... can't wait to get it done! It has been super easy... I repositioned the sections to create the base and expand the space between levels... painted it white and am just waiting for my hubby to cut me some plywood circles for the top of the candle sections to hold the vintage china plates I'm using!

cant wait to try this

great,ideal and very useful.

Very pretty.

very creative, i really like this idea!

I think this totally rocks!! I actually up cycled an old chandelier when I moved into my new apartment. If I come across another one guess what I'm gonna do!!!!

I had a chandelier just like that and got rid of it (in the trash). Oh well, wish I could hold on to everything because someone always comes up with a wonderful idea!! Love this.

this a great project.to take something old and trash, and turn into a thing of beautie

Awesome . Really love this beautiful project.

I love it! Great idea

What a terrific idea - just wish I had an old chandelier!

Very Very nice !!!! what a great idea.

Don't use the wood disks - paint the chandelier then glue on old saucers - pretty. This would also be good for appetizers and candies... Also could hang "crystals", beads, etc for a fancier look and even change them out for the holidays, garland around the arches, etc.. This would even make a nice candle centerpiece with a large 3 wick on top and pillars or votives around.

This is such a cute idea! This would be a terrific centerpiece for a Wedding, Baby Shower, Birthday Party, etc. Can wait to make.

Great! Can you purchase the wooden circle at acraft stores or another type of store?

I absolutely love this! Now I will probably hit every garage sale and Flea Market to find an old chandelier and make one of my own. Smart idea!

What a great idea!! I'm going thrifting ASAP to try to find a chandelier! Thanks for sharing this!
