Materials:

  • 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool (100 g / 3.5 oz; 192 m / 210 yds) yarn in Dark Grey Mix (Main Color)
  • 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool (100 g / 3.5 oz; 192 m / 210 yds) yarn in Aran (A)
  • 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool (100 g / 3.5 oz; 192 m / 210 yds) yarn in Bright Read (B)

OR

  • 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool (100 g / 3.5 oz; 192 m / 210 yds) yarn in Lemongrass (Main Color)

  • Sizes 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) and 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hooks or size needed to obtain tension
  • Small quantity of black and red yarn for embroidery
  • 2 buttons for eyes
  • Stuffing

 

Gauge:  13 sc and 14 rows = 4" [10 cm] with 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) hook.

 

Instructions:
Approx 9" [23 cm] circumference.
To join new color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw new color through last 2 loops then proceed in new color.

Cozy

  1. With MC and larger hook, ch 24. Join in ring with sl st into first ch, taking care not to twist ch.
     
  2. 1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
     
  3. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  4. 4th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 11 sc. Rep from * once. Join with sl st to first sc. 26 sc.
     
  5. 5th and 6th rnds: As 2nd and 3rd rnds.
     
  6. 7th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 12 sc. Rep from * once. Join with sl st to first sc. 28 sc.
     
  7. 8th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join A with sl st to first sc. Break MC.
     
  8. 9th rnd: With A, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  9. 10th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 13 sc. Rep from * once. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
     
  10. 11th and 12th rnds: As 2nd and 3rd rnds, joining B with sl st at end of 12th rnd. Break A.
     
  11. 13th rnd: With B, ch 1. *2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 14 sc. Rep from * once. Join with sl st to first sc. 32 sc.
     
  12. 14th rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off .

 

Muzzle

  1. With A and smaller hook, ch 7.
     
  2. 1st rnd: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. 3 sc in last ch. Working in opposite side of ch, work 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. 14 sc.
     
  3. 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 20 sc.
     
  4. 3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each of next 7 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. 2 sc in each of next 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
     
  5. 4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Ears (Make 2)

  1. With MC and smaller hook, ch 15.
     
  2. 1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 13 ch. Turn. 14 sc.
     
  3. 2nd row: Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – Sc2tog made. (Sc2tog) 6 times. Turn. 7 sts.
     
  4. 3rd row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – Sc3tog made. Sc2tog. Fasten off

 

Finishing

  1. Sew side ends of Ears together, creating a cupped shape. Sew Ears to Cozy as shown. Lightly stuff Muzzle and sew to Cozy as shown. With red yarn, work back stitch embroidery to form a curved line for mouth. With black yarn, stitch two X stitches above mouth as shown. Sew 2 buttons to Cozy to form eyes as shown.
