Easy Comfort Shawl

Use an easy crochet pattern from Lion Brand Yarn to make a great comfort shawl. The oatmeal colored worsted weight yarn allows you to wear this shawl with any outfit. It'll keep you toasty on those chilly summer nights.  It's also great for wearing in the fall.  Make this pattern in all your favorite colors so you always have something fun and fashionable to wear with all your favorite outfits.

Easy Comfort Shawl

Materials:

  • 1 skein Fishermen's Wool Yarn in Oatmeal
  • K (10.5) crochet hook
  • Large-Eye Blunt Needles

Gauge:  3 V-sts + 5 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Instructions:

  1. Ch 51.

  2. Row 1: (Dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook (V-st made), *sk next 2 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch; rep from * across to last 3 ch, sk next 2 ch, dc in last ch – 15 V-sts at the end of this row.

  3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each ch-2 sp across, dc in top of turning ch.

  4. Rep last row until almost all yarn is used, leaving at least a 6 in. (15 cm) tail. Fasten off.

  5. Weave in ends.

I love this!! I made one similar to this for my daughter last year.. I think ALL Winter Scarves should be thick, wide and long! that way it is more functional and can be used for a wrap, scarf or a combination head cover and scarf... Love love love this pattern!!

What do you mean by 150-123?

May 26, 2010

You list this as a "shawl", but the model is wearing it as a scarf. Is it a shawl or a scarf? I would like to make this with yarn that I already have. How many ounces is 150-123 Fishermen's Wool Yarn? I need to know if I have enough yarn to make this as a shawl. Thank you.
