Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Materials:

  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Light Raspberry
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Lemon
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Honeydew
  • 5.0mm (US H-8) or size need for gauge

 

Gauge:  6 row pattern – 3”; 8 dcs – 2 ½”

 

Special Stitch:

  • Cross-over Stitch (COS) – Work a dc into skipped stitch and around 2 previous dcs.

Fruit Salad Afghan

Instructions:
Afghan is crocheted in multiples of 5 plus 3.
Afghan Measures:  46” x 58”

  1. Row 1: With raspberry ch 133, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn.  (132 scs)
     
  2. Row 2 (RS): Ch 3, dc in each dc across, turn.   (132 dcs)
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Ch 3, dc in next sc, skip 1 dc, *dc in each of next 2 scs, COS, dc in each of next 2 scs,  repeat from * across, turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Repeat Row 4 and fasten off.
     
  7. Row 7: Join lemon in first stitch, sc in each dc across, turn.

Color Scheme:  Continue 6 row pattern as follows for a total of 108 rows: (lemon, honeydew, raspberry) 5 times, (lemon, honey) 1 time

Edging

  1. With wrong side facing work along top edge with raspberry work 1 sc in each stitch across and fasten off.  (132 scs)
     
  2. Round 1: With right side facing work along top edge with lemon (2 hdcs, ch 1, 2 hdcs) in first sc, *ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 hdc in each of next 2 scs, repeat from * across ending ch 1, (2 hdcs, ch 1, 2 hdcs) in last sc.
     
  3. Work along side edge [ch 1, 2 hdcs in dc space] across, ending ch 1, (2 hdcs, ch 1, 2 hdcs) in first sc of bottom edge,
     
  4. Work along bottom edge *ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 2 chs, repeat from * across ending ch 1, (2 hdcs, ch 1, 2 hdcs) in last sc.
     
  5. Work along side edge [ch 1, 2 hdcs in dc space] across, ending ch 1, join to beginning hdc and fasten off and turn.
     
  6. Round 2: With wrong side facing work along top edge join honeydew in right corner sc space, sc in same space, [ch 2, skip 1 stitch, sc in next stitch] across ending ch 2, sc in corner ch 1 space, continue this pattern around entire afghan ending ch 1, join to beginning sc and fasten off.
