  • Vintage mirror dresser topper
  • Paint in color of your choice

  1. This vintage mirror dresser topper came from My Favorite Junk Shop.  It had the cardboard backing but the mirror was gone.

  2. The Junktion Technical Specialist cut a piece of board to replace the mirror and he also cut the two long ends off the mirror stand.

  3. I painted the frame with turquoise paint that I mixed myself.

  4. I painted with the chalkboard paint and then I distressed the turquoise frame by the wet method. I used the wet shop towels and rubbed the paint off. You have to do this just after the paint dries. Don’t wait too long.

  5. The cute little knobs for hangers came from Hobby Lobby.  I drilled holes in the frame for the knobs. Easy.

Absolutely love this project! I would have really enjoyed having this in my room as a child.

Fist off I love the turquoise. I want to use that color with grey and yellow in one of my rooms and this would fit right in. It would look good on a table with a quote you could change on the chalkboard every once in awhile or an entry hall with quotes or a saying like Have A Great Day on it. This would refurbished chalkboard would be good in many places. So simple and easy and looks like fun and you can even add your own embelishments too. Now I just need to find a vintage mirror at the thrift or antique store.

This is a nice idea as a chalkboard and quite useful. Other options might be to replace with another mirror or even several mirrors put together, or you could cover the backing Cher batting and cover with fabric for a bulletin board, or cork board, or crisis cross with ribbon. Great inspiration!

Love it! What a great idea!
