Americana Brushes

  • DBL1000-B - Liner 0
  • DBR2004-B - Round 4
  • DBF2575-B - Flat 3/4"

Staining/Antiquing Medium

  • DS51 - Staining/Antiquing Medium

Americana Spray Sealers

  • DAS12 - Americana Gloss Spray

Other Supplies:

  • Foam plate
  • 1/2" flat brush
  • 1" foam brush
  • Aleene's Quick-Dry Tacky Glue
  • Woodsies wood shapes: 4 large hearts; 9 medium hearts; 31 Small hearts
  • 14" unfinished wood plate


Instructions:

  1. Basecoat plate Saffron Yellow; let dry.
     
  2. Mix one part Royal Fuchsia with one part Staining/Antiquing Medium. Use 3/4" flat brush to paint plaid lines across center of plate; let dry. Use Royal Fuchsia to paint small hearts; let dry.
     
  3. Mix one part Foliage Green with one part Staining/Antiquing Medium. Use 1/2" flat brush to paint lines between wider plaid lines; let dry. Use Foliage Green to paint medium hearts; let dry.
     
  4. Use 4 round brush and Grape Juice to paint lines over center of Foliage Green lines; let dry. Paint large hearts Grape Juice; let dry.
     
  5. Use end of paintbrush dipped into Saffron Yellow to paint dots where Grape Juice lines overlap and dot on scallops of four Royal Fuchsia heart shapes; let dry.
     
  6. Use end of paintbrush dipped into Holly Green to paint row of dots along center of Grape Juice stripes; let dry.
     
  7. Referring to photo for placement, use four Grape Juice hearts and four Royal Fuchsia hearts to form two butterflies; glue hearts together for wings and glue butterfly shapes to plate.
     
  8. Use round brush and Lamp Black to paint body of butterflies. Use liner brush and Lamp Black to paint antennae of each butterfly; let dry.
     
  9. Refer to photo and place two Royal Fuchsia hearts together with points meeting; place another heart on top to cover two points, forming flower shape. Refer to photo and glue flower shapes around rim of plate, alternating positions.
     
  10. Use liner brush and Grape Juice to paint three stamens on each flower; use end of paintbrush dipped into Grape Juice to dot end of each line. Let dry.
     
  11. Refer to photo and glue Foliage Green hearts for leaves on rim of plate.
     
  12. Use liner brush and Holly Green to paint wavy line for vine and stems; let dry.
     
  13. Spray plate with Americana Gloss Spray; let dry.
