Red Hat Painted in a Bowl

This is a creative and cute craft you can be proud you made. Paint a red hat on the inside of one of your bowls. It makes for a cute gift or house decoration. You can make this in ten easy steps.

Materials:

  • No-Prep Metal Paint
    • DMP01 - Bright White
    • DMP09 - Strawberry Shake
    • DMP11 - Real Red
    • DMP14 - Fresh Lavender
  • Liquid Beadz
    • BE34C - Rich Red
  • Palette Knife
    • DT02 - Palette Knife
  • Americana Brushes
    • DBL1580-B - Script Liner #10/0
    • DBR2004-B - Round #4
    • DBF3012-B - Shader #12
  • Water container
  • Red ribbon
  • Metal bowl
  • Paper towels
  • Palette or foam plate
  • Tracing and transfer paper
  • Pencil
  • Masking tape
  • Cellulose sponge
  • ScissorsPower drill
     

 

Steps:

 

  1. Use scissors to cut circle approximately 1 1/2" in diameter from cellulose sponge.
     
  2. Adjust pattern size to fit bowl.
     
  3. Drill holes as shown in side of bowl using power drill.
     
  4. Mix Bright White and Fresh Lavender 3:1. Use mix to paint both sides of bowl. Let dry
     
  5. Dip circle sponge in Bright White. Position and press place polka dots randomly around bowl. Let dry.
     
  6. Trace and transfer pattern onto bowl. Paint hat area Real Red and hatband Fresh Lavender.
     
  7. Highlight hatband with Bright White and Strawberry Shake using #4 round brush to blend. Use liner brush and Strawberry Shake to stripe band. Let dry.
     
  8. With palette knife, place small scoop of Rich Red Beadz on bow. Let dry
     
  9. Use #4 round brush and Real Red to stripe bowl rim.
     
  10. When bowl is dry, place red ribbon through holes and tie bow.
