The braided t-shirt necklace is a new spin on the recycled t-shirt necklace. Cut up an old t-shirt and braid it into a beautiful design with this t-shirt necklace tutorial. The result is a thrifty, one-of-a-kind necklace.

Materials:

  • T-Shirt
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Take a 5-6 inch chunk out of a mens t-shirt side seam to side seam

  2. Cut skinny strips and stretch them out {put one aside to tie off}.

  3. Split your strips into 2 sections and lay one a little on top of the other making a little loop like this...

  4. Pull the ends of one side through the loop you made...

  6. ..into a knot

  7. Split your side sections in 2 and braid each one curving as you braid just a pinch..

  8. Use your extra strip to tie off your braids leaving some length to wrap around the knot...

  9. Chop off your ends so they are nice and even...

  10. Wrap up your ends.

These t-shirt necklaces are fun to make and wear in the summer. They make great projects for kids and are a great use of old shirts that are just too small. You can even braid together three different shirts for a special effect. You can pick up shirts for less than a dollar at yard sales and let kids get really creative.

These ideas are great!!! My grandkids will love making these!!! So much fun!!!
