Here's a simple crochet headband ear warmer pattern from Bella Feagins that is man-approved! This pattern is no-frills so even the manliest of men would wear this manly ear warmer. You can easily adapt it for women as well!

Manly Ear Warmer

Materials:

  • Two balls of yarn, you will be holding two strands of yarn at the same time. I used a soft stretchy yarn for mine.
  • 10.00 mm hook
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Stitches Used:

  • Chain {ch}
  • Single Crochet {sc}
  • Half Double Crochet {hdc}
  • Slip Stitch {sl st}

Instructions:

  1. Chain 50. This is the size for a grown man, if you can, the best way to get the perfect custom fit is to try the chain on over their head. You don't want it too tight or too loose, you're looking for a nice snug fit that feels comfy and cozy. :) The number of chains does not matter.

  2. Being careful not to twist your yarn, join into a circle. {I didn't turn after any of my rounds.}

  3. Round 1: ch 2 and hdc around

  4. Join with a sl st in the ch 2 space of the beginning ch 2

  5. Round 2: ch 2 and hdc around

  6. Join with a sl st in the ch 2 space of the beginning ch 2

  7. Round 3: ch 2 and hdc around

  8. Join with a sl st in the ch 2 space of the beginning ch 2

  9. Round 4: ch 1 and sc around

  10. Join with a sl st in the ch 1 space of the beginning ch 1

  11. Chain 5. Right now as you are doing your ch 5, your piece should look like this.

  12. After you ch 5, turn your piece so that the ch 5 part is opposite from what it is now.

  13. Now, do a slip stitch into the chain space where you originally joined your ch 50 together to make a round. It should look like this:

  14. If you find that it pulls on the bottom too much when you bring your chain 5 up and join, simply chain one more.

  15. Round 5: ch 2 and hdc around

  16. Join with a sl st in the ch 2 space of the beginning ch 2

  17. Round 6: Ch 2 and hdc around

  18. Join with a sl st in the ch 2 space of the beginning ch 2

  19. Round 7: ch 1 and sc around

  20. Finish off with a sl st in the ch 1 space of the beginning ch 1 and weave in your ends and you are finished! :)

This certainly does look like a manly ear warmer. I am not sure my husband would wear it, because it would not keep his whole head warm, but I do know plenty of men that would love this. The color is perfect for men too, knowing that most men would not want something that stands out too much.

Manly ear warmer, looks like a fashionable and functionally way to warm up. I like that she has included pictures of steps so one doesn't get confused. I was wondering if using a size five or six yarn would be easier than two strands held together. I would also like to know when following the pattern as stated what size around it turns out to be. I want to make one for someone long distance and only know their hat size.

I love this! The pattern looks so easy and I can't wait to make it for my boyfriend.
