Lacy Anytime Vest

Here's a vest that's both casual and beautiful.  This Lacy Anytime Vest from Red Heart Yarn is easy to make and can be worn anytime of year.  Plus Red Heart Stardust yarn is soft and light, making this vest perfect for a casual layered look.

Lacy Anytime Vest

Materials:

  • RED HEART® “Stardust™”: 3 (3, 4, 5, 6, 6) balls 1623 Green
  • Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 9]
  • Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6]
  • Yarn needle
  • Pattern 1
  • Pattern 2
     

Instructions:
Directions are for size XSmall.  Small, Medium, Large 1X and 2X are in parentheses.
To Fit Bust: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48)”
Finished Bust: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48)”
Finished Length: 19½ (19½, 22, 22, 23½, 23½)”
GAUGE: 16 sts = 4”; 24 rows = 4” in Mesh Pattern with knitting needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
 

PATTERN STITCH
Mesh Pattern (multiple of 4 sts)

  1. Row 1 (Wrong Side): *K2tog, [yo] twice, k2tog; repeat from * to end of row.
     
  2. Row 2: *K2, p1, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
     
  3. Row 3: K2, *k2tog, [yo] twice, k2tog; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
     
  4. Row 4: K2, *k2, p1, k1; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
     
  5. Repeat Rows 1–4 for Mesh Pattern.


VEST
Back

  1. Cast on 56 (64, 72, 80, 88, 96) sts.
     
  2. Work in Mesh Pattern for 68 (68, 68, 76, 80, 80) rows.


Shape Armholes

  1. Row 1: Bind off 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 8) sts, continue in Row 1 of Mesh Pattern to end of row—52 (60, 68, 76, 80, 88) sts.
     
  2. Row 2: Bind off 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 8) sts, continue in Row 2 of Mesh Pattern to end of row—48 (56, 64, 72, 72, 80) sts.
     
  3. Beginning with Row 3 of pattern, work in Mesh Pattern for 46 (46, 54, 54, 58, 58) more rows.
     
  4. Bind off loosely.


Left Front

  1. Cast on 56 (64, 72, 80, 88, 96) sts.
     
  2. Work in Mesh Pattern for 68 (68, 68, 76, 80, 80) rows.


Shape Armholes

  1. Row 1: Work Row 1 of Mesh Pattern.
     
  2. Row 2 (Right Side): Bind off 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 8) sts, continue in Row 2 of Mesh Pattern to end of row—52 (60, 68, 76, 80, 88) sts.
     
  3. Beginning with Row 3 of pattern, work in Mesh Pattern for 46 (46, 54, 54, 58, 58) more rows.
     
  4. Bind off loosely.


Right Front

  1. Cast on 56 (64, 72, 80, 88, 96) sts.
     
  2. Work in Mesh Pattern for 68 (68, 68, 76, 80, 80) rows.


Shape Armhole

  1. Row 1 (Wrong Side): Bind off 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 8) sts, continue in Row 1 of Mesh Pattern to end of row—52 (60, 68, 76, 80, 88) sts.
     
  2. Beginning with Row 2 of pattern, work in Mesh Pattern for 47 (47, 55, 55, 59, 59) more rows.
     
  3. Bind off loosely.


FINISHING

  1. Block pieces to measurements shown on schematic.
     
  2. Beginning at armhole edge, sew shoulder seams for 3 (4, 4½, 5, 5, 5½)”. Sew side seams.


Armhole Edging

  1. With Right Side facing and crochet hook, join yarn with sc at underarm, sc evenly spaced around armhole; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off. Repeat around other armhole.
     
  2. Weave in ends.

Hey can this be converted to crochet or is there one here that is similar? I am not a knitter because I can not hold the needles. I crochet still, but slowly. I love the look of this little vest and would love to make one. Thanks to anyone for help.
