I have seen pm as an instruction for place marker and understand what that is, but I also see sm with the instruction to slip marker without the meaning listed for this instruction. Can anyone tell me what slip marker means esp. when there is no marker already in that space to slip (off? or from one needle?) Thank you.

I hope someone has told you by now that "slip marker" just means transfer the marker from one needle to the other. There are two ways to do this: Stick the non-marker needle's tip inside the marker and gently guide the marker over or just move it from one needle to another with your fingers. I have used both methods and have found fingers work best. The markers tend to pop off onto the rug using the needle method. Happy knitting!

In your "Lace Knitting Patterns" eBook, you use the abbreviation "yfwd". It is not listed in the abbreviations in the book or on your web site. I'm wondering if you intend a yarn forward around needle thus creating a hole for the lace pattern and a new stitch on the purl row or to move the yarn from the back to the front which would be used as a pass over after knitting the next stitch, which is contrary to the sequence of the pattern stitches. See Lacy Knit Cardigan pattern. Has anyone knit this sweater and can you help?

30 years of knitting - cabling I can do blindfolded, lace I always struggle with tremendously, but these lace patterns, the needle sizes and pattern repeats look like a great way to start getting the hang of lace. I am going to start the wrap now and try the short sleeved sweater next. Yeah!

I didn't think these patterns were particularly refined or classy. And they're just a collection of patterns that are available elsewhere individually. I did find one pattern I like, though.

This book is wonderful and will keep you knitting all winter long! It's great! and has all stitches used and defined (abbrev.s).
