While this dishcloth crochet pattern is shown with a more neutral yarn, you can always pick something with an unexpected texture or look. Dishcloths always come in handy, so make a few for your kitchen and give a few away later on. You'll use up your yarn scraps and make something interesting at the same time.


  • Yarn: Lily Sugar’n Cream Twists (56.7 g/2 oz)  2 balls of #20009 (Taupe Twists).
  • Crochet Hook: Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Size: Approx 10 ins [25.5 cm] square.

Gauge: 15 sc and 16 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

= Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next st at back of work 1 row below, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.
Dcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next st at front of work 1 row below, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Rep last 2 rows of Waffle Pat until work from beg measures 10 ins [25.5 cm]. Fasten off.

Re: Waffle Dishcloth. See abbreviations I do not understand what is meant to do: dc I know is double crochet but dcbp, dcfp, ws, I have no idea what the bp, fp, ws mean. snault62@yahoo.com

I believe that dcbp is back post double crochet (BPDC) and dcfp of front post double crochet (FPDC). ws is usually wrong side. I hope this helps.
