Daisy Place Setting

Crochet a matching place mat, napkin holder and coaster for a cheerful table setting with a daisy theme. Crochet a matching chair cushion or daisy teapot cozy in the same yarn color theme, from Lily Sugar n' Cream.

Crochet Daisy Place Setting

 

Materials:

  • Yarn: Lily Sugar’n Cream (70.9 g / 2.5 oz)

Place Mats (makes 4)
Main Color (MC): (Blue) 5 balls
Contrast A: (Yellow) 2 balls
Contrast B: (White) 2 balls

Coasters
 (makes 4)
Main Color (MC): (Blue) 1 ball
Contrast A: (White) 1 ball

Napkin Rings 
(makes 4)
Main Color (MC): (Yellow) 1 ball
Contrast A: (White) 1 ball
Contrast B: (Green) 1 ball

  • Crochet Hook: Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 4 pipe cleaners for Napkin Ring

Gauge: 14 hdc and 10 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

Instructions:

Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop of next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed.
Ch 2 does not count as hdc.

Stripe Pattern
Work 4 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 4 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with B.
Work 4 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 4 rows with MC.
These 22 rows form Stripe Pat.

Place Mats (make 4)
With MC, ch 53.
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch and each ch to end of ch. Turn. 51 hdc.
2nd row: (RS). Ch 2. 1 hdc in 1st hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only. *1 hdc in next hdc through front loop only. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
1st row of Stripe Pat is completed.
Keep cont of Stripe Pat, rep last row until Stripe Pat is complete.
Next row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Fasten off.
With RS of work facing, join B with sl st to any corner of Place Mat and work 1 rnd of sc, having 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Daisy Motif: Make 4 (one for each Place Mat)
With Yellow, ch 5. Join in rnd.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 10 sc in rnd. Join White with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: With White, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in missed sc in last rnd. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. 1 sc in next missed sc in last rnd. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
Note: 5 petals from 2nd rnd should alternate with 5 petals from 3rd rnd. Fasten off.
Sew Daisy Motif to top left corner of Place Mat as shown on picture.

Coasters (make 4)
With MC, ch 17.
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 15 hdc.
2nd row: (RS). Ch 2. 1 hdc in 1st hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only.
*1 hdc in next hdc through front loop only. 1 hdc in next hdc through back loop only. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.
Rep last row until Coaster from beg measures 4 ins [10 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Fasten off.
With RS facing, join B with sl st to any corner of Coaster and work 1 rnd of sc, having 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Napkin Rings

Stem (make 4)
With Green, ch 41.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Ch 1. Turn. 40 sc.
2nd row: 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Ch 1. Turn.
Rep last row twice more, omitting turning ch at end of last row. Fasten off.
Fold ends of pipe cleaners down ¼ inch [0.5 cm] onto itself to prevent sharp ends.
Fold stem in half lengthwise and insert pipe cleaner. Sew stem closed.
Daisy Motif: Make 4 Daisy Motifs (one for each Napkin Ring).
Sew Daisy Motif to one end of stem and wrap stem around napkin as shown in picture.
