Easy Icicle Ornaments for Kids

Materials:

  • Metallic, crystal or opaque beads in assorted shapes and sizes
  • Metallic pipe cleaners
  • Large sequins of any shape (Stars in Picture)

Steps:

  1. Thread one large sequin on to the pipe cleaner. Fold up about 1/4” of the pipe cleaner to make a knot (so the sequin does not slide off).

  2. Thread on beads in desired pattern until you reach your desired length. Be sure to leave about 3” of pipe cleaner at the top to make a loop.

  3. Bend pipe cleaner over to just reach the last bead. Twist the end to hold in place. Now you should have a loop to hang your icicle on the tree.

This is a great classroom craft for the younger kids during the holiday season. The pipe cleaners make beading easy for little hands. They are colourful and are quick to make, so they dont get bored or frustrated with the project before it is finished. Best of all, the kids have their own decorations to contribute to the tree.

Marvelous idea, Mandy. I have four grand kids that love to make things for the holidays. I love helping them and so enjoy the looks of pride on their faces when done. But I steer away from cutting items, such as knives or scissors and no hot glue guns. So this idea is a super duper grandma approved project. Thanks for offering it.
