Instructions

  1. Painting the mason jar is easy enough; I used this gorgeous turquoise paint (great for glass) and painted my mason jar. One coat does cover the jar, leaving it slightly transparent, or you can give it two coats; allowing for the first coat to dry before painting the second.

  2. Sand the raised edges of the jar and brush off the dust.

  3. Take the wire and fashion a spiral into which the candle will sit. Use your flat nose and needle nose pliers together to achieve this. Make sure it hugs the candle.

  4. Cut 2 pieces of wire the same length. The length you make them will depend on how far down into the jar you want your candle to sit. Make sure you add 1/2 inch to account for the hooks you need to make on each end of the pieces of wire.

  5. Make your hooks. Attach one end of each of these wires to your spiral and place them opposite eachother. Using needle nose pliers close off the hook around the spiral.

Note: It is easier to take the holder out of the jar in order to place your candle in it.  Then gently lower the unit into the jar place the open hooks over the rim of the opening.

What a great idea using wire to hold the candle in place. My daughters made this as Christmas gifts for their school teachers. They painted festive scenes on the jars and then I just popped tealights in, but using a wire holder would make the candles more secure and much easier to light.

This would look so cute in my apartment windowsill!
