I think this is a great project and the planters are cost effective. I am wondering if you can use a regular hand drill to make the holes? It is so easy to find containers at second hand stores. Recycling is always a good thing.Making your own planter is more unique.

You can if you can get it to go through the item you are using. Some things are hard for the drill sothat is why the electric one is better. I love making my own things to because you can make them as unique as you want them and no one else will have the same thing. I see so many wonderful things in thrift stores, yard sales or flea markets that I like but do know what to do with and now I do and you are right it is so cost effective and cute.
