How to Make a Bow

Instructions

  1. Hold the edge of the ribbon in between your thumb & finger. Bring the ribbon around to make a loop. Pinch the width of the ribbon together width-wise and hold. This is your center loop.

  2. Twist the ribbon one time so the right side is facing forward again. Form a loop next to your center loop. Pinch the ribbon in the same spot and twist so the right side is facing forward again. This is your first side loop. Make one exactly the same on the other side of your center loop – pinch & twist.

  3. You now have a center loop and 1 loop on each side. Make another loop slightly larger & slightly off center from your first side loop – pinch & twist. Repeat on the other side.

  4. Continue to form loops on each side of your center loop, getting larger and alternating the placement until you have your bow the size you want. Try to keep the loops on each side evenly sized and placed.

  5. Be sure to keep your layers of ribbon pinched tightly. When your bow is done make one long dangling loop and one final pinch – cut from the spool.

  6. Use your pipe cleaner to tie around your pinched layers and twist it tightly closed to hold them in place. Snip the ends so they do not show. Cut your long last loop in half for the two streamers.

How come this video made this look so easy. I do not use the wired ribbon because I always make the bow look terrible. I am glad I saw this video so I can make it the right way this time. These bows with wire looks much better on certain things because they hold their shape better . Is there a video on making one as a tree topper? If you have had trouble making a wire ribbon bow before his is the video to watch. Thanks.

Asa retired florist.iI was so happy to see that the bows were being made correctly. So many times I wonder ehere they got the idea from. thank you so much
