Paper Mache Balloon Eggs

No matter the time of year, Paper and Decoupage Eggs look great when put on display. Add them to a glass bowl filled with shredded paper for a pretty look. Decoupage craft ideas help you get rid of paper scraps and save money on supplies.

Materials:

  • Homemade paper mache glue (recipe below)
  • Balloon
  • Decorative paper

Instructions:

  1. To start with, you need to make this amazing paper mache paste. The consistency is great and it’s not as sticky as using watered down glue. Here’s the recipe:
    1. Combine ½ cup flour and 2 cups cold water in a bowl.
    2. Boil 2 cups of water in a sauce pan and add the flour and cold water mixture.
    3. Bring to a boil again.
    4. Remove from heat and add 3 tablespoons of sugar.
    5. Let cool. The paste will thicken as it cools.

  2. Blow up small balloons and dip your paper in the paste. I used strips of magazines for my eggs but any paper will do.

  3. Keep adding strips and set on wax paper to dry.

  4. Once the eggs are complete dry, pop the balloon with a pin and snip off the tied end.
