Printed Animal Purse
This isn't your ordinary purse you like to carry around. This particular purse is actually a box that you can hand-make. Tiger and leopard print fabric help create the design.
Materials:
- LIQUID LAMINATE
- GEM-TAC
- FABRI-TAC
- Wood box with handles
- White nylon paintbrush, 3⁄4” glaze
- Ebony black acrylic paint
- Leopard print fabric, 1⁄4 yard
- Tiger print fabric, 1⁄4 yard
- Brown beaded trim with black ribbon, 1 package
- Embroidered butterfly applique, black with silver.
- 10 acrylic rhinestones, 4 mm
- Scissors
Steps:
- Paint the sides and back of the purse with ebony black paint and let dry. Paint the inside of the purse ebony black and let dry.
- Cut the tiger and leopard print fabrics to fit the front of the purse. Refer to the photo for placement.
- Apply Liquid Laminate to the front of the purse making sure entire surface is covered. Smooth the leopard fabric onto the coated surface, smooth down with your hands to eliminate any wrinkles or bubbles.
- Repeat with tiger print as in photo.
- Apply a generous coat of Liquid Laminate over the fabrics to seal and let completely dry. For a shinier surface, add another coat of Liquid Laminate and let dry.
- Use scissors to trim any fabric threads from the edges. Seal rough edges by brushing a little Liquid Laminate over them.
- Use Fabri-Tac to apply the beaded trim across the middle of the purse, covering the raw edges of the fabric.
- Glue rhinestones across the ribbon of the beaded trim with either Fabri-Tac or Gem-Tac.
- Add the butterfly applique to the purse with Fabri-Tac or Gem-Tac as shown in the photo.
