Cross-stitch this moon and star design on a star-shaped perforated paper. The holographic thread gives the design a shimmering quality like moonlight.

Materials:

  •  Trinket™ star shaped perforated paper
  • Kreinik Silk Mori® 5202 (5m skein)
  • Kreinik Very Fine #4 Braid™ 001L, 002L, 012L, 033L
  • #28 Tapestry needle
  • Needle threader
  • Felt for backing
  • 4” x 6” Treasure Tape™ double-sided tape
  • Optional: Kreinik 1/8” Ribbon 012L, 001L
  •  Stitch Chart (pdf)

Instructions:

Stitch your star on the perforated paper Trinkets™ shape following the color key below. We recommend starting with the metallic areas first, then do the background in the silk color. Use two strands of Silk Mori for a full effect, or use one strand for a lighter look. TIP: the holes on the paper are small and thus require a smaller needle. To thread your #28 Tapestry needle with Very Fine #4 Braid, use a needle threader — it makes life easy! Or switch to a different needle type (such as a crewel needle) that can accommodate the Braid but still fit easily through the paper holes.Watch your tension as you stitch, so you don’t tear the paper.

Finishing: If desired, use the double-sided Treasure Tape to adhere a “tail” made from 1/8” Ribbon, yarn etc. Then lay felt on the back of your work, pressing into tape. Trim felt as desired.
