Materials:

  • 3.00 Crochet Hook
  • 3 ply Cotton Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry or Wool Needle

 

Instructions:

  1. Round 1 Start by making a Slip Knot. Chain 3 Chain Stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets into the chain furthest from your hook. This creates a ring. Chain 4, *crochet 3 double crochets into the ring. Chain 4. Repeat this once from the *. Join with a Slip Stitch to the top of the chain 3.
     
  2. Round 2 Chain 3. (Counts as a double crochet) Double crochet in the next two stitches. *Crochet 1 double crochet in the next chain. Then crochet 2 double crochets in the following chain. Chain 4, and then crochet 2 double crochets into the third chain from the previous round. Crochet one double crochet in the last chain. Crochet 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of chain 3.
     
  3. Round 3 Chain 3. (Counts as a double crochet) Double crochet in the next 5 stitches. *Crochet 1 double crochet in the next chain. Then crochet 2 double crochets in the following chain. Chain 4, and then crochet 2 double crochets into the third chain from the previous round. Crochet one double crochet in the last chain. Crochet 1 double crochet in each of the next 9 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of chain 3.
     
  4. Round 4 Chain 3. (Counts as a double crochet) Double crochet in the next 8 stitches. *Crochet 1 double crochet in the next chain. Then crochet 2 double crochets in the following chain. Chain 4, and then crochet 2 double crochets into the third chain from the previous round. Crochet one double crochet in the last chain. Crochet 1 double crochet in each of the next 15 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of chain 3.
     
  5. Round 5Chain 1. (Counts as a single crochet) Single crochet in every stitch and chain till you get to the corner (Chain 4 space). Single crochet in the first 2 chains, then chain 2, and continue to crochet single crochets in every stitch.
     
  6. Repeat this in all the corners. Join with a slip stitch to the top of chain 1.
     
  7. Fasten off, weave in ends.

This is just what I needed. I have been working with my grandkids, teaching them colors, numbers, etc. Now I can work on their street signs. I have a red stop sign, a tail road crossing sign and now I can make a yield sign. Just make this one entirely in yellow and embroider the words on it! Thank you!
