I made my pillows using a cozy red buffalo check flannel fabric to provide some warmth to our bedroom for the fall and winter. Each pillow requires about a yard of fabric depending on the size of the pillow that you are making the case for (standard, queen, down filled, etc)."

I never really thought about sewing my own pillow cases. By selecting the fabric yourself you can really put a spin on your decorations. I like the tie feature. I think that is what really makes the pillow case. Thanks for the free project idea.

This is a very unique spin on bed pillow cases. In my book, one can never have too many pillows. The red buffalo check pattern is a little bold for me even as a winter color but the ties are really what make this project one that must be placed on the to do list.

I really love this red buffalo check patterned fabric! But of course, this idea would lend itself to whatever fabric you may have in your stash! The ties and bows are actually practical as they keep the case on that pillow! For some extra work and whimsy, you could sew pre-made bows you have created to the ties themselves, and just tie a simple loose knot, saving time and your stress on tying the perfect now each time! Great idea!
