My great grandma had an old washtub that she filled with moss rose. Granddad set it on an old stump outside the back door and I was fascinate with it. I don't know how easy it is to find real old washtubs any more but I suspect you can buy them somewhere. I'd like to do this because it reminds me of them.

This is so cute with the petunias in the vintage metal tub. Add your marigolds in the months of September, October, and November- and change the message accordingly. Pumpkin patch, Fall Colors. I say you could even pop a mini evergreen in there and add holiday floral pics or real pinecones and greenery in there for Christmastime!

This is a nice way to display some flowers around your yard and I like that you can put what it is on the side of the washtub . A fairly easy project by painting the tub with chalk paint and put in dirt and you are ready to go. The washtubs are a bit expensive so I would check yard sales, thrift stores or maybe even flea markets and if you see on cheap grab it. Can you use this to plant vegetables or will it get to hot? I would love to use these in places my dirt is too hard to use space I could not use before. Super great dea.

I don't think it would get too hot for most vegetables, but I would keep them away from the sides of the tub, just in case. You're right washtubs are expensive to buy new! I think it depends on where you are whether they are hard to find used. This project is cool, though.
