Mother Henna Video: Henna Style Drawing

This is a quickie, 10 minute, how-to for drawing basic henna style designs, using basic elements to build up to a fancy, floral design. I am showing you how to draw pen/ink/paper to practice henna style in this video -- I am not actually doing a henna paste applications. This is just the design basics, not actual application of paste.

Materials:

  • Paper
  • Ink pen/marker
  • Patience and Playfulness :)

Instructions:

  • You can use these basic elements to fill larger elements with fancy designs. So take a larger drawing of a paisley or an elephant or something, and then fill it with these layers of basic elements. You end up with a very fancy design.
  • Once you are comfortable doing these elements in pen, then switch to trying various applicators filled with chocolate icing. You can use a pastry bag, a j-bottle, or roll your own cello cone. Fill with icing and practice drawing these basic elements onto sugar cookies or something.
  • Once you are comfortable with icing, then try filling your applicator with henna paste, and start playing on your own skin. You can find a *free* eBook about "All Things Henna" written by Kara aka Mother Henna on the KotaPress/Lulu bookshop site.
