Modern Melissa Crochet Skirt
Modern Melissa Crochet Skirt

"This straight skirt is a simple project for a first-time garment crocheter. The Tunisian stitch pattern is an updated version of “the Melissa stitch” found in a vintage crochet book. The Modern Melissa Skirt has a great texture and the denser fabric of the Tunisian crochet means you can wear it unlined over tights or leggings. Start by crocheting two panels flat, join with a sturdy single crochet seam, and then finish with a covered elastic waist band crocheted in the round. If you prefer a liner, wear slip shorts rather than a half slip. There is a video tutorial to walk you through all the special stitches used in this pattern. Skills Used Basic crochet stitches: chain, single crochet Crocheting in rows for skirt panels, crocheting in rounds for waist bands Decreasing (explanations provided in pattern and video tutorial) Special stitch patterns: Decrease Return, Standard Return, Tks, Tss (explanations provided in pattern and video tutorial)."

I am interested in making an article of clothing. The video will be handy if I select to crochet this one. Still looking around.

I just think this Modern Melissa crochet skirt is timeless. The video tutorial was a huge help in determining if I would attempt this article of clothing. I am hoping it will be a success as I would love to have this in several colors. Will post my first result when I decide on a color.

This skirt is so cute I think one of my granddaughters will love this skirt done in a pale green or an emerald green. I have finally found a pattern for a skirt that you cannot see through. I have tried to create a pattern for one, and even doing a single crochet, it still leaves little holes, so thank you for creating this pattern and sharing it for all of us to use.
