  • 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Jockey Red
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in White
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Emerald
  • 4.5mm (US G-6) or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge:  6 rows – 3 ¾”; Shell, sc, shell, sc – 3 ¼”

 

Special Stitch: 

  • Shell – 5 dc in space or stitch as indicated.

Holiday Criss Cross Scarf

Instructions:
Scarf Measures:  8” x 57”
Note: Scarf is worked in multiples of 6 plus 2.

  1. Row 1 (RS): With red ch 32, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip 2 chs, Shell in next ch, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, fasten off and turn.
     
  2. Row 2: Join white in first stitch, ch 3, dc in same stitch,*ch 1, sc in center dc of Shell, ch 1, dc in first dc of next Shell, ch 1, working in front of dc just made, dc in last dc of previous Shell, repeat from * across to last Shell, ch 1, sc in center dc of last Shell, ch 1, 2 dcs in sc of previous row, turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same stitch, *sc in next sc, Shell in ch 1 space between next 2 crossed dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat with sc in last sc, 3 dc in top of turning ch, fasten off and turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Join emerald in first stitch, sc in same stitch,*ch 1, dc in first dc of next shell, ch 1, working in front of dc just made, dc in last dc of previous Shell, repeat from * across ending last repeat with ch 1, sc in top of turning ch, turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in same stitch, *Shell in ch 1 space between next 2 crossed dc, sc in next sc, repeat from * across, fasten off and turn.

Color Scheme

  1. Continue repeating Rows 2-5 for pattern for a total of 97 rows as follows:  (2 rows red, 2 rows white, 2 rows emerald) 15 more times, 2 rows red.     

Edging

 

  1. With white work along top edge and wrong side facing (sc, ch 2, sc) in first sc, *ch 2, sc in center dc of Shell, ch 2, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next sc, repeat from * across ending (sc, ch 2, sc) in last sc and fasten off.
     
  2. With green work along bottom edge and wrong side facing (sc, ch 2, sc) in first sc, *ch 2, sc in ch below Shell, ch 2, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch below sc, repeat from * across ending (sc, ch 2, sc) in last sc and fasten off.
