Materials:

  • 5 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Light Blue
  • 5.0mm (US H-8) or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge: 

  • Rows 3-6 – 2 ¼”
  • Shell, sc – 2 ½”

 

Special Stitches:

  • Shell – (3 dcs, ch 1, 3 dcs) in stitch or space as indicated.
  • V Stitch (V St) – (dc, ch 1, dc) in stitch or space as indicated.

 

Instructions:
Afghan Measures:  44” x 53”
Afghan is crocheted in multiples of 8 plus 12.

  1. Row 1 (RS): Ch 140, 2 dcs in 4th ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 3 chs, sc in next ch, ch 1, skip 3 chs**, Shell in next ch, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 3 dcs in last ch, turn.
     
  2. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first stitch, *ch 3, V St in next sc, ch 3**, sc in ch 1 space of Shell, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, sc in 3rd ch of beginning ch, turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first stitch, [ch 1, Shell in ch 1 space of V St, ch 1, sc in next sc] across, turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Ch 6, sc in ch 1 space of Shell, [ch 3, V St in next sc, ch 3, sc in ch 1 space of Shell] across to last stitch, ch 3, dc in last stitch, turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Ch 3, 2 dcs in same stitch, ch 1, sc in next sc, [ch 1, Shell in ch 1 of V St, ch 1, sc in next sc] across to last stitch, ch 1, 3 dcs in 3rd ch of turn ch 6, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Ch 1, sc in first stitch, *ch 3, V St in next sc, ch 3**, sc in ch 1 space of Shell, repeat from * across, ending last repeat at **, sc in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3, turn.
     
  7. Continue pattern repeating Rows 3 – 6 for a total 85 rows.

Edging

  1. On RS work along top edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in space between the first and second right corner dcs, *ch 1, 3 V Sts in next sc, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch 1 space of Shell, repeat from * across ending ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in space between the last 2 dcs.
     
  2. Work along side edge *ch 1, 2 V Sts in next dc space, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc space, repeat from* across ending ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in space between the first and second bottom edge dcs,
     
  3. Work along bottom edge *ch 1, 3 V Sts in ch below next sc, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch below next Shell, repeat from * across ending ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in space between the last 2 dcs.
     
  4. Work along side edge *ch 1, 2 V Sts in next dc space, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc space, repeat from * across ending ch 1, join beginning sc and fasten off.
