Rustic Etched Drinking Glasses
 

Materials:

  • Drinking glasses – smooth side no pattern or design. A set of 16 glasses was purchased from a discount store
  • Glass etching cream
  • 4 x 4” piece of clear laminate (vinyl on one side and adhesive on the back)
  • Blue painters masking tape
  • Marker
  • Light box (optional)
  • Craft knife

Instructions:

  1. Apply painters masking tape to the top of the clear vinyl laminate.

  2. Use a light box, or a window to trace pattern onto tape with marker.
     
  3. Remove backing from laminate.
     
  4. Apply to glass where desired. Smooth edges of laminate down. Hint: If drinking glasses are curved, cut a couple of little snips in the side so that all the vinyl material will lay down on the glass.

  5. Cut out the center of the motif with craft knife.

  6. Remove center.

  7. Apply etching cream according to manufacturer’s directions and leave on for recommended time.

  8. Rinse thoroughly under water. Dry glass.
     
  9. Remove masking tape and vinyl to reveal pattern
