Swarovski brought the beautiful Jingle All the Way Bracelet to the blog, with an awesome prize package to boot. Let’s find out who won yesterday’s prize pack that included an assortment of all the beads you need for the Jingle All the Way Bracelet, a “Finish Your Necklace” kit, exclusive items from Rings & Things, and more!

Congratulations to…

Betty

We asked: “What’s your favorite holiday accessory?”

Congratulations Betty, who replied, “My favorite holiday accessory is earrings. I love them because they can be small-to-large, conservative to bright-and-glitzy. Since virtually every woman has ears, almost anyone can wear them.:they can be adapted for pierced or non-pierced ears. They can be used to make a statement, such as crosses at Easter time, or simply to provide a decorative lift to your overall look. Unlike necklaces, they rarely get snagged in my hair if I am wearing it down and loose. Additionally, I do not have to worry about pin holes being left behind in my clothing, as so often happens with pins or brooches.
So, while I like all types of jewelry, earrings are most definitely my favorite.”

Remember, there’s a new project and a new prize TODAY, so enter for your chance to win. You don’t want to miss out on your chance to check out the Project of the Day, and win our next fabulous prize! But there’s MORE!

Win a Crystal Katana and Bring Some Bling to Your Life

April 23, 2013 by AllFreeJewelryMaking

Every girl loves to add a bit of bling to her belongings. What phone case or compact couldn’t be improved by crystal embellishments? If you’ve ever tried your hand at bedazzling, you know that it can be a bit tricky – catapulting crystals, glue mishaps, and tweezer catastrophes are just a few of the frustrations you can encounter. However, a new product has been developed that will have you kissing your bedazzling blues goodbye. With the Crystal Katana, blinging your belongings has never been easier. If crystals are your Kryptonite, then it’s your lucky day, because AllFreeJewelryMaking is giving away a Crystal Katana prize pack to one lucky winner!

Say “sayonara” to sticky waxes, hard-to-handle tweezers and tools, and airborne crystals. With the Crystal Katana, you can bling almost anything with absolute ease. Made by glitzing guru Kellie DeFries of CrystalNinja, the patent-pending Crystal Katana is a dream come true for DIY-ers with a desire to dazzle. The waxy, pointed end allows you to easily pick up and place crystals, and the chrome end allows you to press them into place for ensured adhesion. No stress, no mess, no fuss or frustration. It’s really that simple!

The wax end has just enough grab to easily stick and release crystals without leaving a greasy residue. The chrome end is designed with a small opening that lets you press crystals in place securely. The tool itself is large enough to provide a secure grip, unlike teensy tweezers, but is light enough that it can be maneuvered with ease and comfort. It’s so effortless to manipulate, Kellie DeFries has used it to bedazzle everything from phone covers to car hoods!

Why leave your life sparkle-less any longer? Enter for your chance to win a Crystal Katana and bring a bit of bling to your life. The Crystal Katana Giveaway prize pack includes one Crystal Katana tool, a bottle of Dreamtime Creations rhinestone adhesive, five syringes and tips for gluing, and a large assortment of Swarovski Elements flatback crystals. What a haul! Contest ends May 6, 2013, and you can enter once a day, so keep coming back to improve your chances!

What would you bling first with your Crystal Katana?

Crafting the Oscars: Swarovski Crystal Curtain

February 23, 2009 by FaveCrafts

Behind all of the glitz and glamour of last night’s Academy Awards was, well, more glitz and more glamour. Framing the stage of the show at the Kodak Theatre was a magnificent curtain made from 92,000 Swarovski crystals. Interested in learning more about how the curtain came together, I did some research and here is what I learned:

The curtain was assembled entirely by hand in Smithfield, Rhode Island by the staff of Orion, a company that specializes in retail exhibits and displays. Orion assembled the last Swarovski crystal curtain, seen at the Oscars two years prior, which contained only 50,000 crystals. this year, Swarovski shipped the crystals from Austria to Orion, where workers spent an entire month and over 400 hours assembling the curtain entirely by hand. Each strand of the curtain contained 6,000 crystals.

Once assembled, the curtain, along with the rest of the Kodak Theatre stage, was put in the hands of David Rockwell. Rockwell, an acclaimed architect and designer, crafted the set, which he imagined as the space for an elegant party. In addition to designing the crystal curtain, Rockwell chose the 25 LED screens, some of which moved and reconfigured throughout the presentations and performances, in place of the traditional single big screen. He also added a “thrust stage,” leaving only four steps between the stage and the first row of seats, allowing Hugh Jackman easy access to Frank Langella’s lap.
