Hot Trends at Winter CHA!

February 7, 2012 by FaveCrafts

As some of you may already be aware, a group of our editors went to the CHA convention last week and I was lucky enough to be part of that group! We were representing FaveCrafts, but editors from AllFreeBeadedJewelry, AllFreeKniting, and FaveQuilts were there. The few days we were there were definitely a whirlwind, but we saw so much exciting stuff that’s coming out and will be at your local craft stores in the coming months. I wanted to share with you guys something that I saw as a huge trend in paper crafting so that you can get just as excited as I did! Oh yea, and keep reading for a special surprise.

Get those “take me to the moon” puns ready because hot air balloons were just about the hottest thing in the paper booths. And they were adorable! Don’t believe me? Let me show you what I mean.

These pretty pastel ones from Basic Grey were definitely my favorite. I love the vintage, old-world feel they give off. I will definitely be picking up some of these when they finally hit the store.

How about these fun and colorful prints from Hambly Screen Prints? The picture on the right is of a paper print they have coming out. I think it would also make a super cute fabric print too.

Don’t worry, I found something for those of you that love stamping out there too! This cute vintage set from 7 Gypsies has a pretty detailed hot air balloon, but so many other good things too!

This pretty printed paper is from Quick Quotes. This is actually just one corner of the paper, the whole thing is pretty, but I was of course drawn to the hot air balloon. They have some really great stuff coming out this year!

We didn’t want you guys to feel left out so we grabbed as much stuff as we could get our hands on and have created a little giveaway for you! One lucky winner will walk away with a swag bag full of crafting goodies and samples! Check out this blog post to find out how to enter.

So what do you think? Do you love the hot air balloon trend? What would you make with these prints?

Cool2Craft and FaveCrafts Giveaway: Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner

January 12, 2011 by FaveCrafts

Have you heard about FaveCrafts’ recent partnership with Cool2Craft?

We’re so excited to work with Tiffany Windsor and the entire team.  From recycled projects to paper crafts, Cool2Craft has so many great ideas for crafters.  Best of all, you don’t have to be an expert to follow the tutorials.  If you’re interested in learning more about Cool2Craft, check out their company profile on FaveCrafts and be sure to sign up for the Cool2Craft weekly newsletter.

Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner

And that’s not all!  FaveCrafts and Cool2Craft are giving away a Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner!  This is a great tool for anyone who loves to craft.

It’s a particularly great for scrapbookers because you can easily duplicate old photos and keepsakes.  When I was younger, I went through a major scrapbooking phase.  It was a pre-scanner era, so I would either have to make my mom take me to a store with a copy machine or cut up old photos.  As a lazy tween, I didn’t care at all about saving anything.  This led to the destruction of so many irreplaceable photographs that I otherwise would have saved for generations.

Don’t let this happen to you!  Enter to win a Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner – the winner will be chose on January 30 and revealed LIVE on Cool2Craft’s live broadcast on January 31.

To learn more about this high tech yet easy to use scanner, check out this Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner Video.

Father’s Day Ideas from “Scrapbook Royalty”

June 17, 2009 by FaveCrafts

We weren’t kidding, Jennifer Priest really is scrapbook royalty! She has her own adorable blog, which you can check out here, and she also works for Scrapbook Royalty, a crafty charitable organization that we LOVE here at FaveCrafts. Here are a few of Jennifers creative DIY Father’s Day gift ideas for you last minute folks.

Father’s Day Mini Book

A great way to celebrate Dad and what he means in our lives is to create a mini book about just that. I collected quotes I found online that pertain to my children’s experience with their dad, my husband. Then I gathered photos that represented those things in my children’s lives. I used scraps of fabric that my husband liked as well as an old pair of his jeans that I cut into accents to use in the book. I taught this book as a sold out Prima Certified class at two local scrapbook stores in southern California. You can download a PDF of the quotes here.

Materials:

  • Chipboard – Kelly Paper
  • O-Wires – Zutter
  • Paint – Making Memories
  • Fabric – Joann’s, Heidi Grace, Ralph Lauren Jeans (cut up)
  • Flowers, Gems, Stamps, Stars, Paper – Prima
  • Ink – Ranger, Colorbox, Stampin’ Up!
  • Cardstock- Bazzill, The Paper Company
  • Book Plates, Brads, Photo Turns – Stampin’ Up!

Homemade Treat Can

I recently purchased some nut medleys packaged in brown cardboard tubes from Starbuck’s. My family already ate all of the goodies inside but I loved the shape and color of the sturdy tubes. You can “recycle” almost any packaging into something new. Fill Starbuck’s Frappucino jars, Prima flower bottles, and other packaging with candies or treats from your local grocery’s bulk candy and nut selection. My husband loves mixed nuts so I plan to fill this tube with a variety of flavored mixed nuts from our local market.

This makes a great gift for any occasion, especially Father’s Day for a little extra treat. Save the leftover can as a decoration or desk organizer!
