Show Stopping Mother’s Day Cards

April 30, 2013 by AllFreeHolidayCrafts

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I’m sure some of you are at a loss as to how to show mom your appreciation. Believe it or not, most of the time what mom really loves is the sentiment of the whole gift. Homemade Mother’s Day cards offer the perfect opportunity to express what you can’t always say. Sure the gift is nice, but the card is the real gem of Mother’s Day. Give your mom a show stopping card this year by making one yourself.  These creative Mother’s Day card ideas will give your message to mom some style.

Must-See Mother’s Day Card Ideas

"Inked" Mother's Day CardWe’ll start off fairly simple for you. This “Inked” Mother’s Day Card retains the classic structure of a greeting card in its shape. What differs in this DIY card is the tattoo-inspired sewn front piece. This card is great because it can be funny and sentimental. The tattooed front can recall mom’s wilder, often unspoken youth, “Does it look like your tattoo, mom?” you can jokingly (or seriously) ask. She’ll get a good laugh out of seeing “mom” classically stitched on the front of this card. When she opens it up, she’ll tear up at your sweet words of appreciation. In one way or another, we all have “Mom” tattooed on our hearts, so why not express it?

Green Embellished Mother's Day CardYou can flip the fold of that conventional card and make this Green Embellished Mother’s Day Card. Like any other card, this Mother’s Day card opens up to reveal your meaningful message. Unlike any other card though, the cover is supremely special. The most interesting aspect of this DIY card is the front. From this tutorial you can learn how to gussy up regular cardstock with fabric and pom-poms. It’s loud, gaudy and fabulous; it’s the perfect way to express your abounding feelings for mummsie.

3D Greeting CardsThese 3D Greeting Cards not only look amazing, they’re also super fun to make. Forget giving this project to the kids, make this yourself – to give to mom, of course. Your mom will love these pop-up cards from Creme de la Craft. Get goofy in your design. You can make pop-ups of inside jokes between you and mom or special memories. This is one card that comes to life!

Momma Bird Loves Baby Bird CardI’m in love with this Momma Bird Loves Baby Card. It’s a simple yet perfect depiction of a mother-child relationship. Despite being well over my toddler years, I’m constantly assured by my mom that I’m still, in fact, a baby. I think she’ll love this sturdy paper craft, as will most mothers. By following the links to this greeting card tutorial, you can access the printables to make these adorable momma and baby birds.

Paper Crafting a Tea Party

Queen Bee Paper Crafts for Mother's Day

Queen Bee Paper Crafts for Mother's DayYou’ll be as busy as a bee when you make all of the paper crafts from these Queen Bee Paper Crafts for Mother’s Day. These instructions walk you through every step to hosting a lovely tea party for mom. Every craft, from card holders to hanging decor, is bee-autiful. You’ll feel like you’re in a buzzing bee colony by the time all of your homemade muffin cups and honeycomb cut-outs are made. The only difference is you won’t be terrified or stung – we hope.

Queen Bee Paper Crafts for Mother's DayOne of the most charming aspects of these Mother’s Day paper crafts is that each one is merely a detail in the collective tea party but is vital to its success. Take the drinking straw embellishment, for example. This is simply a teeny-tiny paper bee on a straw. Despite its small size it adds tons to the overall effect of the party. Making paper bees and honeycombs is incredibly fun, and having them strung about the table and walls only adds to the enchantment of this Mother’s Day tea party. Even if you’re not a regular crafter, these paper crafts are described so well in the instructions that you’ll be able to whip them up easily.

Queen Bee Paper Crafts for Mother's DayThis entire tea party package is irresistible. The final set-up may look complicated, but putting this tea party together is very doable. How to: Make Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

March 31, 2010 by FaveCrafts

Mother’s day is May 9 which may seem a while away, but it will be here before you know it. This special holiday is the time to make your mother feel extra special. It’s the time you tell her how much you love her and how much she is appreciated. She’s raised you, she’s taught you things in life and now she’s watching you raise your own children. Show her just how much you care by making a Mother’s day gift from the heart.

A really great gift for all mothers are flowers. Who wouldn’t love the fresh smell of flowers, but a lot of times they can be very pricey. Well not this year. This year you can make your own flowers out of straws. She’ll love it even more because it was hand-made. I saw this craft and just fell in love with it.

You’ll need an artificial flower stalk with the fuzzy middle. Be sure it’s the easy ones so you can take the flower part off the stem. The other main material you need are drinking straws any color of your choice. If you’re making yellow daisies then yellow straws would be best. You’ll also need scissors and a thin piece of wire. For a decent sized daisy you can use 11 straws.

Fold the straw in half (vertically) and cut in the middle to create two pieces. Then fold that smaller piece in half again and cut again to create two more pieces. And for another time, fold tiny piece in half and cut. Then take your scissors and cut in a circular motion around one of the edges creating a petal then cut the straw vertically creating two petals out of that one piece. Repeat these steps for all 11 straws.

A bit confused? I know I was a little bit too. Here is a video to help you make the perfect flowers for Mother’s day.
