Gift Guide: 26 Quick Gift Ideas for Kids to Make

November 1, 2013 by AllFreeKidsCrafts

WIU No-Sew Fleece BlanketThroughout this week, I embarked on a crafting adventure  that continued daily the instant I returned from work. It began as a mere idea on Monday, and by Friday it had transformed into the finished product. My friend is going to be a freshman at Western Illinois University, and I decided to make her a no-sew fleece tie blanket using WIU’s school colors, purple and gold. It’s an easy process that didn’t take long at all, so I was finished by Wednesday, but I felt that something was missing. That’s when I came up the idea to cut out a ‘W’ in purple felt and sew it on with a fancy applique stitch. That’s how I turned a simple, new-sew blanket into a sewing craft. Go figure! If you’re interested in making a blanket like this one and want to learn how, my craft is based on the No Sew Fleece Blanket from AllFreeKidsCrafts.com.

You can get them free from the library, and there are so many to choose from. Nothing stimulates your mind more than reading does. As an English major in college, I spend most of my time reading, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love jumping into a different world each time I open up another book. Camping Crafts for Kids: Have an Indoor Camping Expedition

July 21, 2013 by AllFreeKidsCrafts

Campfire CupcakesI’ve been camping in every corner of this country and have such great memories because of it. My family has always taken the road less traveled, opting to spend a week in the woods rather than at a resort. Sometimes if it’s raining, the wrong season, or campgrounds are too far away, it’s just not practical to go camping, but have no fear! You can still have an amazing camping experience in your own home with camping crafts for kids, edible crafts for kids, and even bug crafts for kids to make the experience authentic.

Turn your living room into a tent, your kitchen into a river, egg cartons into ladybugs, and don’t forget about the essential campfire!  Here are some great camping crafts for kids from AllFreeKidsCrafts to do indoors on your own camping expedition.

If you have an entire weekend to spare, try this awesome Indoor Camping Expedition craft. It has food, crafts, and even a skit to perform so that you can get the whole camping experience.

If you’re getting hungry, then the sweet treats in the Edible Crafts Campfire is a camping craft for kids that will fill your tummy. Despicable Me 2: Easy Crafts for Kids of All Ages

July 3, 2013 by AllFreeKidsCrafts

Despicable Me Twinkie Minion Cupcakes Despicable Me 2 is such a great kids’ movie that I could watch it over and over, and I’m not even a kid anymore. My sisters and I used to pretend to be minions and constantly reenact scenes from the movie, much to my parents dislike. Randomly shouting ‘bananas!’, as the minions do, was a favorite of ours. Whether you are a first-time viewer or a veteran, you’ll love making crafts based on Despicable Me 2.
