10 DIY Beaded Bracelets for Every Occasion

November 17, 2016 by FaveCrafts

I used to wear a watch every single day until it broke. I couldn’t really fix it, and after a few days of going to work with a bare wrist, I got the itch. Do you ever feel that itch? Do you ever feel that need to have something decorative on your arm? As a temporary fix, I put together a couple of quick DIY beaded bracelets. They were simple, colorful, and fun, and at the time, I considered these bracelets as only a replacement to ward off that bare-wrist itch until I found a new watch. Little did I know that this temporary fix would become a regular jewelry-crafting habit.

If you’ve ever spent hours searching the web for beautiful watches, you already know that the ones you will want to show off are super expensive. In this day and age, watches are more for decoration than for practical purposes, too. We can always just check the time on our phones, right? Bracelets, on the other hand, can be cute and bubbly or decadent and ornate for way less money. For the price of one gorgeous watch, you can make a crazy amount of bracelets.  In crafting DIY beaded bracelets, I soon found myself making them for every occasion. I had bracelets for formal parties, small gatherings, summer outings, holidays, trips to the beach, and everything else under the sun! What started off as a simple bandage for my broken watch problem became a fun craft to pair with my daily wardrobe. These crafts also made phenomenal DIY gift ideas for friends, loved ones, nieces, cousins, etc.

Trends for 2014: 7 DIY Jewelry Projects to Make

December 9, 2013 by AllFreeJewelryMaking

One of the best things about the end of the calendar year is waiting in anticipation for what the new year will bring. Wishes and goals are common this time of year, but learning about and seeing new trends is always the most exciting experience of the season, especially when it comes to trending jewelry styles. As most jewelry fans know, accessories can be expensive. Just a simple necklace, a couple of cute bracelets, a bold ring or two, or a few pairs of earrings can easily add anywhere from $25 to $50 at a minimum to your shopping expenses. It’s always better when you can find knockoff designs for less. You should never have to choose between staying on trend or spending all the money you have, and now you don’t have to.

AllFreeJewelryMaking has compiled a list of Trends for 2014: 7 DIY Jewelry Projects that will allow you to be on point with your style, but spend much less than you would in stores. These DIY jewelry ideas are easy, budget-friendly, and stylish. Whether you are new to making your own accessories or a seasoned homemade jewelry creator, make it your goal this coming year to make these trendy DIY projects.

Lock-and-key-collage

Want to know a secret you don’t have to keep? Lock and key necklaces and bracelets, and even earrings, are definitely in style. You can go for bold metallic pieces like the Rodarte look, or stick with a subtler touch, and create your own Braided Padlock Bracelet.

Birds-Bees-Collage

Though it may seem like spring is far away, the fashion world from Miori to Mathon is already abuzz about pieces featuring birds, bees, and butterflies. If you want a noteworthy piece that follows this trend, this Buzzworthy Bee Cuff is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

5 Minute Gold Chain Necklace

Link yourself up with this fun chain necklace trend. With this 5 Minute Gold Necklace, you can create a shimmering necklace in a flash, and save a fortune compared to splurging for a Valentino chain design.

Fringe-Trend-Collage

Be on the lookout for seed bead fringe or delicate metal chains on earrings or necklaces. Make a stunning homemade necklace like this DIY Beaded Fringe Necklace or a Jazz Age Torque Necklace, or create gorgeous DIY earrings like these Seed Bead Tassel Earrings.

Leaf-Necklace-Trend-Collage

Nature-inspired jewelry like this Oscar de la Renta piece has an elegant feel; but you can get this lovely look for less by crafting your own Good as Gold 3-Level Necklace or an Autumn Leaves Necklace.

Pins-Trend-Collage

Pins and brooches are a great way to add color and dimension to any ensemble. Add them to your wardrobe this season by starting with this stunning Beaded Satin Flower Brooch.

How to Rock the Hardware Store Jewelry Trend

May 2, 2013 by AllFreeJewelryMaking

Ladies, I’ve finally found a hobby you and your man can both enjoy: shopping at the hardware store! No really, hear me out. The hardware store jewelry trend has been on fire for some time with no sign of fizzling out any time soon. Why not combine the hubby’s love of home improvement with your love of jewelry making with these hot hardware store jewelry tutorials? Perusing the plumbing supplies might just become your new favorite couple’s activity. Check out these super chic hardware jewelry DIYs and clear your schedule for this Saturday, because you and your man have a date at Home Depot.

Hardware Jewelry Trend

The shiny golds and coppers of hardware make the perfect complement to colorful jewelry materials. Take these Color Pop Hardware Store Bracelets, for example. They’ve been popping up all over Pinterest, and I can’t get enough of them! The combination of the bright embroidery thread and the shiny gold hardware give these bracelets double the punch. They’re so addictive and easy to make, you’ll have to have one in every color.

Bored with basic bezels? Take a trip to the hardware store and get inspired! That’s how this Stones Set in Copper Bracelet was made. A copper test cap becomes a basin of a bezel ready to be filled with stones, crystals, and beads and then sealed up with jewelry making glue or epoxy. Nothing could be easier. Plus, this hardware store solution will save you a pretty penny; this copper cap cost only $1.50!

utilityropenecklace

I’m in love with this DIY Utility Rope Necklace from Honestly…WTF. This DIY necklace project combines two trends in one: hardware and neons. The colors, textures, and materials somehow all combine together to create DIY jewelry magic, and I, for one, am under its spell. This statement necklace has a tribal vibe that I am totally digging.

diyhardwarenecklace

Sometimes you don’t need crazy colors and you can just let the hardware speak for itself. That’s the aesthetic behind this simple DIY Hardware Necklace design from One of Each. Made with nothing more than rope and various hardware store supplies, this standout necklace needs no bells and whistles to make a statement. Pair it with a stark black tee for that edgy rocker effect.

Hex nut bracelets are one of the most popular projects to come out of hardware jewelry mania. The great thing about the DIY Hex Nut Bracelet is that it’s low on effort but big on impact. There are a lot of tutorials out there for making hex nut bracelets and probably many different ways to do so, but this one simply uses basic braiding to get the effect. It’s super simple and still has that edgy, industrial, don’t-mess-with-me look.

There’s no need to choose between expressing your girly side or your edgy side. With hardware jewelry, you can show off both of those sides at once! Get more hardware jewelry inspiration with these free tutorials:

  • Tight Squeeze Necklace
  • Brass Ring and Neon Knot Necklace
  • Effortless Hinge Bracelet
  • Copper and Pearls Necklace
  • Easy Copper Tube Bead and Rope Bracelet
  • Sequin and Lug Nut Necklace
  • Strung Colorful Copper Necklace

Would you wear hardware store jewelry?
