# 1 Dad! Father’s Day Crafts Kids Can Make

May 17, 2013 by AllFreeKidsCrafts

kids-fathers-day-cover-smallLet’s raise our juice boxes to the men who fix our bikes, the leaking faucet, and scraped knees. Their generosity extends much further than the handyman status, and for that, we thank them. And while a toast would satisfy those grateful guys just fine, they deserve more. Treat your favorite fellas to a day that is dedicated to them. Yup; a 24-hour period that is all about appreciation, love, and admiration aimed at the gentlemen who make your family whole.

To show your handsome Hercules just how much he is adored, spend time making homemade gifts for Father’s Day with your kids. This process should be fun and exciting, so to alleviate any stress, AllFreeKidsCrafts has gathered the 16 best Father’s Day crafts for kids to make and bound them neatly in a free eBook for your viewing pleasure. The challenge of finding the perfect craft to create has been eliminated, and all that’s left for you to do is to get artsy. That doesn’t sound like a bad job, now does it?

The 16 crafts presented in this free eBook are varied enough that you are sure to find the perfect crafts for the men in your life no matter their interests. We have covered every type of guy from the sporty dad to the sentimental father. There are cards, gifts, and decorations included to make sure that the third Sunday in June is a full celebration this year.

Homemade Card Ideas for Father’s Daytoddler-art-for-daddy

Whether those strong dudes show their sensitive side or not, it’s there, and it’s just waiting to make its appearance. Since your meaningful note will be tailored specifically to the recipient, your homemade card ideas for Father’s Day should be too. That’s an easy task to complete thanks to the diverse projects presented in this free eBook of Father’s Day crafts for kids to make. Watch Dad’s heart melt as you hand him your handmade card that you made all by yourself. Even if you’re just a toddler, there is a darling card that you can make.

Homemade Gifts for Father’s Day

daddys-alphabet5

Though a gift is not necessary if you give Dad the perfect card, it would still be very much appreciated, no doubt. Homemade gifts for Father’s Day are worlds more meaningful than a store-bought present, even if it’s exactly what he asked for. When you pour thought, effort, and love into a gift, it shines more brightly than any brand-new car or straight-out-of-the-box electronic. Make Dad a gift that he will treasure forever, like the Daddy’s Day Alphabet Kids Picture. There is no question that this sweet gift will have a permanent place on Dad’s desk and in his heart.

What was the most meaningful Father’s Day gift you have ever made?

Show Stopping Mother’s Day Cards

April 30, 2013 by AllFreeHolidayCrafts

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I’m sure some of you are at a loss as to how to show mom your appreciation. Believe it or not, most of the time what mom really loves is the sentiment of the whole gift. Homemade Mother’s Day cards offer the perfect opportunity to express what you can’t always say. Sure the gift is nice, but the card is the real gem of Mother’s Day. Give your mom a show stopping card this year by making one yourself.  These creative Mother’s Day card ideas will give your message to mom some style.

Must-See Mother’s Day Card Ideas

"Inked" Mother's Day CardWe’ll start off fairly simple for you. This “Inked” Mother’s Day Card retains the classic structure of a greeting card in its shape. What differs in this DIY card is the tattoo-inspired sewn front piece. This card is great because it can be funny and sentimental. The tattooed front can recall mom’s wilder, often unspoken youth, “Does it look like your tattoo, mom?” you can jokingly (or seriously) ask. She’ll get a good laugh out of seeing “mom” classically stitched on the front of this card. When she opens it up, she’ll tear up at your sweet words of appreciation. In one way or another, we all have “Mom” tattooed on our hearts, so why not express it?

Green Embellished Mother's Day CardYou can flip the fold of that conventional card and make this Green Embellished Mother’s Day Card. Like any other card, this Mother’s Day card opens up to reveal your meaningful message. Unlike any other card though, the cover is supremely special. The most interesting aspect of this DIY card is the front. From this tutorial you can learn how to gussy up regular cardstock with fabric and pom-poms. It’s loud, gaudy and fabulous; it’s the perfect way to express your abounding feelings for mummsie.

3D Greeting CardsThese 3D Greeting Cards not only look amazing, they’re also super fun to make. Forget giving this project to the kids, make this yourself – to give to mom, of course. Your mom will love these pop-up cards from Creme de la Craft. Get goofy in your design. You can make pop-ups of inside jokes between you and mom or special memories. This is one card that comes to life!

Momma Bird Loves Baby Bird CardI’m in love with this Momma Bird Loves Baby Card. It’s a simple yet perfect depiction of a mother-child relationship. Despite being well over my toddler years, I’m constantly assured by my mom that I’m still, in fact, a baby. I think she’ll love this sturdy paper craft, as will most mothers. By following the links to this greeting card tutorial, you can access the printables to make these adorable momma and baby birds.

From the Heart: 8 Handmade Card Ideas

January 28, 2012 by FaveCrafts

Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day…so many special occasions call for a card. I know I’ve wasted more time than I care to count scouring the shelves of the greeting card aisle, skimming over one sappy card after another. These manufactured messages can just be so cheesy sometimes. That’s why whenever possible, I like to make personalized greeting cards for my friends and family. A handmade card says so much more than a company-contrived message featuring a cat in a party hat, right? We’ve pulled together some great video tutorials on handmade card making from the paper crafts playlist on our FaveCrafts YouTube channel for your crafting convenience!

Not-So-Sappy Happy Birthday

We’ve all seen the usual suspects in the birthday card section: blue-haired seniors whooping it up; dogs in costumes; glitter-glue-bedazzled birthday cakes. My mom could probably build a spacious two-car garage out of all the martini-glass-fronted cards she’s received over the years. The next time you’re in need of a birthday card, try out this tutorial video. It shows you how to make cute paper flowers for a 3-D effect!

Here are some other great card making techniques that will make your loved ones feel special on their birthday:

How to: Paper Piecing – This video shows you how to create dimensional paper pieces that will really make your cards “pop!” Make cupcakes come alive, create billowing balloons…get creative!

How to Mix Patterned Paper – This tutorial is good for card making or scrapbooking. Learn how to combine prints and patterns for a fun, colorful card that looks almost like gift wrap!

Sweet Notes for Your Sweetheart

Many consider Valentine’s Day to be a phony holiday made up for the sole purpose of selling greeting cards. Stick it to the card companies by making your own V-Day love note! Let your lover know they’re the only one for you with these super sweet handmade card ideas.

How to Make Quick Valentine Cards – If you’re strapped for time, you can make these simple cards in a snap.

Meaningful Mother’s Day

She birthed you, she raised you, she tolerated your angsty teen years–the least you can do is make her a hand-crafted Mother’s Day card to show her you really care. Don’t let some manufactured message tell your mom how you feel about her. This neat video shows you how to make gorgeous Vintage Pressed Flower Cards fit for the loveliest lady in your life.

Here are some other pretty techniques that will make your personalized card look better than store-bought:

Perfect Pearls Techniques: Stamp Lift – Wow! This tutorial shows you how to make cards with beautiful swirls of color.

How to Make Marbleized Paper – Your mom will definitely be hanging this card up on her fridge.

These are just a few of the many handmade card ideas we have on FaveCrafts.com and on our FaveCrafts YouTube Channel. So next time you need a card, ditch the sappy store-bought poem and make your own personalized card using one of these great card making techniques!

How about you: Have you ever received a handmade card? Do you prefer handmade cards to store-bought, or does it not make a difference?
