Link Love: Wreaths You’ll Fall in Love With!

August 16, 2012 by FaveCrafts

Even though there are still a few days of summer left, there’s no denying that autumn is approaching.  There’s a chill in the air, the rainy days have returned, and most importantly, the stores are stocking up on Halloween candy!

One of my favorite things about fall is decorating for the season.  I love the warm colors and the smell of fresh cinnamon, clove, pine, and fire.  When it comes to fall decorations, a great place to start is creating a seasonal wreath.  Since visitors are in abundance during the fall, having a beautiful wreath on your door is a great way to greet family and friends for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I love this Circle of Autumn Wreath.  This is a project that truly sparkles and it looks easy and fun to make.  I love how the leaves look with that fun and snazzy glitter coat.

I’m also a big fan of using recycled materials, so I was sure to bookmark this Pretty Paper Wreath when I saw it.  What this wreath lacks in color, it makes up for in design.  You could also use newspaper to achieve a similar look, or cut up an old paper bag if you want it to look like burlap.

Finally, this Colorful Fall Wreath is perfect for the thrifty crafter.  You could easily make this wreath out of items you’d find at the dollar store, so you can get the look you love for pennies on the dollar.  That’s my kind of crafting!

Want more fall wreath ideas?  Check out our collection of 19 Decorative Front Door Wreaths for Fall!

We’re not the only ones who are ready to start decorating with leaves and pumpkins.  Here are a few other fall wreaths from bloggers all over the Web.

  1. Fall Wreath with Burlap from Sweet Passions on a Thrifty Dime
  2. Fall Pom Pom Wreath from Nature’s Heirloom
  3. Fall Rag Wreath from Cassie & Co.
  4. Free Spirit Fall Wreath from Positively Spendid
  5. Welcome Fall Wreath from Miss Lovie Creations
  6. Fall Wreath from Every Creative Endeavor
  7. Yarn Wreath from Home Stories A to Z
  8. Rolled Burlap and Rosette Fall Wreath from Just Sew Sassy

How to Find Home Decor Craft Ideas

March 25, 2012 by FaveQuilts

So you’ve decided to redecorate a room (or even the whole house), but you’re on a shoestring budget. The best way to spruce up your home without spending a lot is to roll up your sleeves and get crafty! With just a few basic skills and materials, you can make beautiful decorations for your home. Give new life to your space without ever stepping foot into an IKEA. Here’s how:

Get Inspired – Where to Find Home Decor Ideas

The first step to creating an attractive, welcoming living space is to envision a cohesive design scheme. Without a vision for the end result, your home decor projects can end up looking disjointed together. Flip through decorating magazines, watch a few home improvement TV shows, or spend an afternoon browsing a furniture store to figure out what styles and colors resonate with you. Take pictures and keep track of which ideas strike your fancy.

Learn how to make this simple Polka Dot Wall Art to spice up a blank space!

Of course, the Internet also offers an endless supply of inspiration for home decorating. Start with Pinterest. If you haven’t used this amazing new photo-sharing website yet, you can easily learn how to navigate it. Pinterest will supply you with oodles of pretty home decor images that you can copy in your own design plans.

Once you have collected a few ideas, decide which ones you want to use in your new room. Choose design elements that fit your style, and remember that you can easily change colors to match your design scheme. Before you know it, you’ll have an idea of which parts of your space will be getting a crafty makeover.

A great design plan will you give you direction when redecorating your space, but first you need to learn how to make the things in your plan! There are plenty of home decor craft ideas on the Internet, just waiting for you to use them to cheer up your home. Browse a few DIY home improvement blogs to find tutorials that craft bloggers have successfully used in their own homes.

The First Ever Craft Bowl: Quick Craft Projects to Do During Game Time

February 3, 2012 by FaveCrafts

Huge TV sales, empty grocery stores, and a surprising lack of men out and about can only mean one thing:  Super Bowl Weekend!  For many households, this weekend is game time.  The snacks are made, the beer is cold, and football fans are bearing their colors as their favorite teams go head to head in the biggest game of the year.  But what about those who aren’t into football?  Why, you can gear up to get crafty!

We have a great lineup of quick and easy craft projects that you can do while everyone else yells, cheers, and hollers at the TV.  If you’re really on your game, you can easily tackle two or three before the big game’s over!  Let the Craft Bowl begin!

Fans of both the New England Patriots and The New York Giants will love this American Spirit Stars and Stripes Throw.  Handmade crochet afghans are great for passing the time or working on as you watch the game (or the commercials)!  You could even leave this patriotic crochet afghan on your couch year round…and is obviously great to bring for picnics and fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Are you hosting a Super Bowl party this year?  Why not make little Team Pride Bottle Cozies for all your guests to thank them for coming?  This adorable quick and easy crochet pattern is so fun and is a great way to show your team pride!  You could even make these before the big game to help guests remember which drink is theirs.

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to come up with new DIY home décor projects, so my Craft Bowl will be spent working on ways to brighten up my home for spring!  I love these Bright Button Flowers and I can’t wait to make them!  It’s a great way to use up all my random buttons and to add color to my dining room!  Plus I don’t have to worry about forgetting to water these!

Speaking of spring (and water!), you know what they say:  April showers bring May flowers…and the coming of spring means lots of rainy days!  If your umbrella is not up to the challenge, give it a makeover with this Umbrella Recovery Project.   This simple sewing project should take you no more than three hours to complete and is a great way to fall in love with rainy days!

Three hours is the perfect amount of time to organize your craft supplies.  This Coffee Cup Tool Carrier is a great way to keep track of your crafting essentials, as well as use up those Styrofoam or paper cups you’ve been saving.  This simple craft project is so easy that you’ll have your whole craft stash organized without having to go into overtime!

So there you have it.  A lineup of fun easy craft ideas fit for a DIY All-Star.  And while we don’t have funny, over-the-top commercials between projects, we do have lots of other fun ideas for you at FaveCrafts.com…so be sure to check out our newsletter this weekend for more Craft Bowl projects!

How are you spending The Super Bowl?  Cheering?  Eating?  Crafting?  We wanna know!
