Linda asks,

I have been looking for directions for making a bonnet door hanger from a cool whip container. Can’t seem to find one.

I am looking for a knit afghan pattern that resembles a sudoku puzzle.

Debbie asks,

I have been looking for a bi color yarn I found a couple of year ago at Wal-Mart. The colors were school colors like black and orange but I don’t remember the brand. It had something about school in the name like school days or colors. Can you help me please?

Help a Reader: Boy or Girl Wood Pattern

June 9, 2010 by FaveCrafts

Carla is looking for a wood pattern. She asks,

I am looking for a certain pattern. Can you please let me know if you do or do not have it? Several years ago I did a wood project and I want to do it again, but I don’t have the pattern anymore and have not found it anywhere else. It was a sideways figure of a girl (or woman) and a boy (or man). The reason I say either one is because I decorated them with cloth, lace, felt, ribbon, etc. They were about 18 to 24 inches high and they were to be hung on a wall, but have been used in different ways. As I said it was just one side and the girl had a bonnet and the boy had a hat. They did not have eyes because they were covered by the bonnet and hat. I made 15 pair of them and sold them in two hours. I quit doing them because I had a very stressful full time job. I am now on disability and have time to make them. Please help me if you can.

Help a Reader: Bottle Cap Basket

May 12, 2010 by FaveCrafts

A reader wants to craft with bottle caps. Joan asks,

Does anyone have a pattern for a basket or bowl made of bottle caps? My grandfather made one when he was about 8 or 9 back in 1928. I believe they are strung together with wire – maybe bailing wire or picture hanging wire. The one he made is about 10″ across and 8″ high – not including the handle. I’d love to make one!

Help a Reader: Organizing Embroidery Floss

April 28, 2010 by FaveCrafts

Can you help Linda organize her embroidery floss?

I have tried organizing my embroidery floss so it is easy to reach and all the colors are visible but nothing seems to work just right. I now have them pinned to a padded and covered tri-fold cardboard but the needles fall out, it’s difficult to put away for next time. I use all colors when embroidering a baby quilt and do not want to spend my time looking through a notebook for the correct shade of a color.

If so, post your idea in the comments.

Help a Reader: Crochet Rag Rug

April 21, 2010 by FaveCrafts

A reader needs help creating a rag rug. She writes,

I was wondering if you could please help me. My Grandma crocheted a rug for me before she passed away and never got the chance to sit and let her teach me as she lived in IN and I in GA. I’ve made a couple of afghans but never a rag rug…I know the basics, long strips of rags single stitch mostly but I am not really sure how I start. I have this BIG needle but remember hers being long/skinny with a large hook. This one is plastic with no size and fat.

Anyway I’d like to start in the middle and come out with a rectangle. Any tips ?

Can you help? If so, answer in the comments.
