13 Spring Crafts That Will Make Your Life Instantly Better

It’s FINALLY starting to not be horribly cold outside and I’m just itching for spring to be officially here. To me, spring means putting away my boots, packing up my winter coats, and sunshine! Glorious sunshine. Winter is just so gray and sunshine just makes life better.

You know what also makes life better? Crafting. Crafting + Spring? The perfect combination for an instant pick-me-up.

That’s why for National Craft Month this year we worked with some of our favorite brands and bloggers to put together the 13 Spring Crafts: Easter Craft Ideas, Spring DIY Home Decor, and More free eBook. What I love about this book is that it has something for everyone. There’s a knit shawl pattern for the knitters, a crochet beanie for the crocheters, and a paper pinwheel wreath for the paper crafters, for example. Perhaps you’re even a triple threat and craft in all three of the areas! Plus there are even more types of crafts in this book and you’ll just have to download your free copy to see for yourself!

Did you know that to celebrate National Craft Month and the beginning of spring we also have giveaways going on ALL month long? Yup, you read that right! Check them all out here

12 Scarves You Need to Knit Right Now

There’s just something about a warm scarf on a cold day. Who doesn’t love the warm and cozy feeling you get when you sling one around your neck and head out the door? Scarves not only add warmth and weight, but they also add a touch of class and style to any wardrobe. The one problem is that when it comes to buying scarves, you can end up spending an arm and a leg. What’s a girl to do?

The latest free eBook, 12 Knitted Scarf Patterns: Fabulous Free Knitting Patterns for Beginners solves this problem and makes life so much brighter. Browse our collection of the best free knitting patterns – each of which has a full materials list, step-by-step instructions and helpful hints. Whether you’re new to knitting or a true expert, this free eBook is sure to keep you busy (and happy) all season long. Best of all, these are so many fun kinds of scarves to make – you won’t get bored or run out of ideas. From cowls to light and lacy designs, this eBook has it all.

Traditional Scarf Knitting Patterns

Just like snow and red noses, a long and chunky scarf is a staple of winter. They never go out of style or lose their luster, making them an essential for anyone’s winter wardrobe. You can make them in a variety of colors and (when possible) use a single skein of yarn. You can even add cool textures and embellishments to make the scarf stand out. The Coconut Milk Scarf is a reader favorite because it can be customized so easily. The loose stitches create wide holes, making it more breathable and less claustrophobic for the wearer. You use one color for the entire piece or add a second color on each end of the scarf. Another fun take on a traditional look is the Chain Stitch Scarf. This scarf is perfect for beginners because you only work up seven rows. This is a great way to practice your stitches and hone your knitting technique. This is a single color project, so you only need two balls of the same kind of yarn. It doesn’t get much better than that (especially if you don’t want to drop money on more yarn).

Unexpected Knit Scarf Pattern

What do bacon and potato chips have to do with scarves? A lot, actually! In 12 Knitted Scarf Patterns: Fabulous Free Knitting Patterns for Beginners, you’ll find two potato chip scarf patterns and a Makin’ Bacon Scarf. Unfortunately, neither of these projects is scratch and sniff, though. While the Makin’ Bacon Scarf is meant to look like a strip of bacon, the Artsy Potato Chip Scarf and the Soft and Smoky Potato Chip Scarf actually have nothing to do with your favorite greasy snack. Both have wavy edges and tend to spiral when wrapped around one’s neck. The result is a pretty and dainty accessory that is sure to wow. Other cool and unexpected scarf knitting patterns in the free eBook include the Knit Scarflette and the Two Tone Cowl. If you want to stay warm and stand out from the crowd, you’ve come to the right place. These patterns prove that knit scarf patterns can make a huge impression.

“How to Make a Jelly Roll Quilt: 9 Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns” free eBook

What is the worst thing about quilting?

C’mon, everyone has that one step in the process that they just hate. And if you’re like us here at FaveQuilts, it’s pretty straightforward: cutting. It’s such a tedious process that requires so much focus; unlike piecing, which you can do in a rhythm while listening to music and getting into the zone, cutting requires careful attention to detail—both because you want your squares or strips or triangles to be the right size and because you don’t want to lose a finger.

Well, there’s a solution: pre-cuts. Jelly rolls, charm packs, fat quarters … pre-cut fabrics either completely avoid or greatly reduce the amount of time you need to spend snipping and slicing on your cutting mat. Since we love pre-cuts so much, we decided to make a whole book out of them! In How to Make a Jelly Roll Quilt: 9 Jelly Roll Quilt Patterns, you will find some of our favorite jelly roll quilt tutorials from the site. These patterns range in size, shape, and purpose, but trust us, you’ll love them all equally.

Let’s take a peek at what’s inside…

Rail Fence Picnic Quilt

Summer Quilt Patterns

Some quilts are made for snuggling, and some quilts are made for celebrating! Jelly roll quilt patterns like the Rail Fence Picnic Quilt are perfect for picnics, roadtrips, and family reunions. Everybody loves being outside in the summer, but for those of us who are in charge of doing the family laundry, there’s a lot to be said for a protective barrier between our butts and the grass.

Keep your pants stain-free and your food ant-protected with one of these gorgeous summer quilts!

Baby Quilt Tutorials

Striped Chevrons Baby Quilt TutorialBaby quilt patterns are consistently among the most popular tutorials that we offer on FaveQuilts, and it’s not hard to see why. Learning how to make a baby quilt in the span of one or two days makes for a serious increase in quilt production—and guarantees that not only will you never show up to a baby shower empty-handed, but your gift will always put all the others to shame.

The easy baby quilts that we chose for this book were picked especially because of how easy and fast they are. Patterns like the Striped Chevrons Baby Quilt are guaranteed to be fun and stress-free.

Four Hour Lasagna QuiltQuick and Easy Quilt Patterns

Of course, you can only make so many baby quilts before you start to go a little crazy, so add some variety to your To Do list with one of our easy-breezy lap and throw quilt patterns. These are easily the most versatile of quilt patterns, since you can use them for just about anything. They’re big enough to keep you warm and comfortable on the couch in winter, but small enough to be packed up and taken along on a long trip or vacation. (Not to mention their excellence for building blanket forts.)

Still, even bigger projects like throw quilts shouldn’t take you forever, which is why we’ve included awesome patterns like the Four Hour Lasagna Quilt, which you can make in time for dinner.
