How To: Make an Easter Dress

If you’ve resisted the urge to purchase an Easter dress for your little girl this year, you may be in luck with handmade dress options that will look even better than what you could’ve found elsewhere. (And for cheaper, we hope!) Handmade dresses and skirts are perfect for spring weather because of the array of light fabrics and patterns that are out there.

Make a basic tiered skirt using 3 different fabrics and pair it with a cute white cardigan.

Or if you have more time on your hands, consider going all-out with a fun dress that your little girl, niece or granddaughter will cherish.

Here’s a Girls’ Twirl Dress that I absolutely adore.

For the shirred bodice, a great tip from a reader was to purchase pre-shirred fabric at a local fabric store to avoid the hassle of trying to sew it yourself (if you struggle).

And what about for yourself? What are you planning to wear to Easter brunch? There are tons of budget-friendly ways to dress up an oversized tee shirt for a special occasion. Be innovative and frugal at the same time.

Since I’m a novice seamstress when it comes to clothing, I’ll leave this one up to the professionals. I found this video tutorial for a simple T-shirt dress that leaves no implication that it was made from a t-shirt! How fancy!
