60 Crafts to Hop Into if You’re Eager for Easter

March 20, 2012 by AllFreeHolidayCrafts

Even though Easter’s getting closer and closer, to me it seems like it just can’t get here soon enough!  It’s one of my favorite holidays and I can’t wait to celebrate with my whole family this year.

But just because we haven’t flipped the calendar to April yet doesn’t mean you can’t start enjoying some Easter festivities right now.

Since I can’t stop thinking about the holiday, I decided I’d collect a bunch of my favorite Easter crafts and guess what?  Before I knew it I’d gathered 60 projects.  That’s a lot of Easter crafting!  But I love it, so I’m not going to complain 🙂

Anyway, in case you’re like me and are itching to start your Easter celebrations ASAP, here are my top Easter craft picks including egg decorating ideas, basket crafts and some fun decorations made from recycled materials!  Check it out:

I think these Retro Fabric Easter Eggs are so fun and festive, and totally unique!  I’ve never seen anything quite like them.  You can either buy fabric specifically for this project or you can just use up scraps you have around the house!  The best part about fabric eggs is once you make them they’re there to stay. No need to create new egg decorations every year: just pull these out of the attic or basement and your decorating is done!

When I first saw this Floppy Eared Bunny Basket I think I may have let out a little squeal of joy.  It’s just so darn cute!  Of course my first thought was: this has gotta be hard to make.  But I was totally wrong!  Not only is this basket pretty simple to stitch together, it also costs less than 5 bucks to make.  Don’t believe me?  Just check out the tutorial and you’ll see why I’ve fallen in love with this Easter basket idea!

If you think about it, Easter isn’t exactly the most eco-friendly holiday, what with all the candy wrappers, plastic store-bought baskets and whatnot.  But there are actually several ways you can craft for Easter without adding to the unnecessary waster. This little Egg Carton Chick is a perfect example. Instead of just tossing those Styrofoam cartons once you’re done decorating your eggs, use the packaging to create fun Easter decorations for your table. You can also make a bunny version and create a whole gaggle of Easter animals!  Older kids can get in on the fun too since this is a relatively easy craft project.

And it just wouldn’t be Easter if I didn’t share a cute egg cozy idea.  This family of chick egg cozies has to be one of the most adorable ways you can possibly protect your eggs. I can’t get over how each little chick has a different style hat. This Easter crochet pattern is just so ridiculously cute.

So are you even more pumped for Easter now?  So am I!

How To: Easter Bunny Crafts

March 31, 2010 by FaveCrafts

The Easter Bunny for the Easter holiday is like Santa Claus for Christmas. He leaves little gifts of chocolates and spring surprises for the kiddies to wake up to. Growing up, I would get an Easter basket from the Easter Bunny, and it was always so exciting to receive small spring-themed gifts. To this day, I light up when I see the candy Easter eggs in the aisles at the grocery store.

That said, it’s clear that the Easter Bunny is mostly for the kids, and so Easter Bunny crafts are generally geared toward kids. So why not include them in the Easter Bunny crafting this year? Here’s a quick and easy Easter Bunny craft to try with the kids this week – especially if they’re home for Spring Break!

Materials:

  • White and/or Assorted Pastel colors construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paste-on Eyes
  • Pink Puff Balls (small)
  • String
  • Hole Punch

There are a couple ways to do this craft, for wall decor or place settings for your Easter brunch or dinner.

Steps for Easter Bunny Garland:

  1. Trace your child’s fist on the piece of construction paper with the pencil.
  2. Above the fist, trace two fingers (like a peace sign) for bunny ears.
  3. Cut out as many bunny templates as you need in assorted pastel colors – recommended 20 or more for the garland.
  4. If you like, add a pink puff nose to the bunny, or leave them plain
  5. Punch a hole in the top of the head for the string to run through.
  6. String your bunnies to make a nice long garland to decorate your Easter table with.

Steps for Easter Bunny placecards:

  1. Trace your child’s two fingers (like a peace sign)
  2. With the construction paper cut a rectangle or oval miniature table tent (just fold over and cut).
  3. With the eyes and puff balls glue a bunny face onto the table tent.
  4. Glue the finger bunny ears to the top of the placecard and voila! Put a bunny placecard at each table setting for your brunch or dinner gathering.
