How to Crochet a Bracelet

April 7, 2011 by AllFreeCrochet 6 Comments

Lately I’ve been seeing some really cute pieces of jewelry on AllFreeCrochet while going through the site. One of my all time favorites is the Dainty Crochet Ring. I really wish I could make one for myself, but I’m just not at that point yet. So if anyone wants to make one for me…. Any way the most recent pattern I’ve come across is the Wrist Band with Button Applique. I was really inspired to try and make my own version of this except I was too excited so I didn’t want to go to the store. I wanted to make it right away with the supplies I already had so my version is a bit different. Instead of having the chains and bars, my whole band is just crocheted with one simple charm on top.

I started out by chain stitching about 8 stitches and then I moved to single crochet for a few rows. I then realized I didn’t really like the look of it and it was just taking too long. Remember, when I’m excited about something I want it done quickly. So I ripped out the few rows that I had done and I started over with half double crochet. It seemed a lot easier and it worked up quickly. I used an F hook with Patons Bamboo Baby Yarn for a nice soft touch. After about 10 rows or so it started to look like a tiny little scarf, I then whip stitched the two ends together to form a bracelet or ring to fit my wrist.

Now that the band was complete I had to add my charm to the top. This was a bit difficult since I attached it after I closed the band. If you’re planning on making something similar I suggest you attach the charm or button before closing the band. This is a great project for you to work up quickly and would make a great gift for a teen or someone of any age.  This only took about a half hour to an hour to put together. Because I wasn’t following a pattern and this was my first bracelet attempt it took a bit longer than it should have. I really like big jewelry and this one is neat because it kind of looks like a watch.

What kind of bracelet charm would you add to your bracelet?
