10+ DIY Wedding Gifts Any Bride-to-Be Will Love

May 18, 2015 by FaveCrafts

May will be over before we know it, and you know what that means….wedding season is upon us! I don’t think anyone is more aware of this fact than my refrigerator, which has been positively covered in save-the-dates and invites since the dawn of 2015. Weddings are awesome, there’s no doubt about it, but staying creative–and not spending hundreds of dollars!–while trying to get shower and DIY wedding gifts together for all of your friends can be super difficult.

Our advice? Go DIY. If you already got your pal a gift off of her registry for the shower, consider something a little more personal for the wedding and make a DIY wedding gift. This will mean so much more to her, especially if the two of you are super close!

Although you definitely know your best bud, daughter, or sister better than we do, we wanted to share some of our favorite DIY wedding gift ideas with you this week. There’s still plenty of time to finish these easy, thoughtful projects. We hope you’ll find something that makes you say “I do!”

Beachside Buddies: Summer Crafts for Kids

June 15, 2014 by AllFreeChristmasCrafts

Precious Pom Pom Sea CreaturesDon’t you just love going to the aquarium? When I’m at an aquarium, I often fantasize about climbing into the tanks with those beautiful fish and adorable turtles. Luckily, there’s a less dangerous way to get close to these stunning creatures–I can craft my own!

The Pom Pom Sea Creatures pictured at left show how many different underwater creatures you can make with one material. The jellyfish is silly as-is, but I think some googly eyes would make him even more lovable. If you like to spend your summer days outdoors rather than indoors, there are Sea Creature Sand Castle Molds that make sand castle building easy. These cans are painted with grinning starfish, clams, and more. We’ve got a ton of summer crafts for kids and adults that are inspired by aquatic life.

Just Keep Swimming: Fish CraftsCute Knitted Fish

Cute Knitted Fish – I can’t decide what I love more about this knitted fish pattern: the multicolored yarn or the button eyes.

Tropical Reef Fish – Paper plate crafts are great for the parent in a pinch. You can keep kids entertained for hours with these budget-friendly fishies.

Seahorse Window Hangers – Inspired by a popular book , this summer art project is perfect for children who like to play with clay.

2 Hour Felted JellyfishJellyfish Crafts for Kids

2 Hour Felted Jellyfish – Follow this easy felted knitting pattern to create a jellyfish pal for your little one.

Happy Hanging Jellyfish – As far as bedroom decorations go, they don’t get much cuter than these cheerful kids crafts.

Elegant Jellyfish Ornament – Keep the spirit of summer in mind during the cold winter months with this eye-catching handmade ornament craft.

Yarn Turtle Patterns & Crab CraftsToddler Turtle Pillow

Toddler Turtle Pillow – This crochet turtle pattern is a cuddle buddy and pillow in one.

Tuck the Turtle – Tuck is a mellow turtle who’s bound to bring a smile to your child’s face.

Crabby the Crab – Don’t let his name fool you; Crabby is actually a smiley guy. This free crochet pattern is available in symbols or in English.

Styrofoam Cup Crabs – Googly eyes and pipe cleaners make these summer crafts come to life.

What’s your favorite undersea creature to craft?

Link Love: Delicate Doily Crafts

September 11, 2013 by FaveCrafts

When I think of doilies, I immediately imagine lace gloves, tea and corsets. I have to admit, I don’t invest in doilies that often – they have always seemed a little too Downton Abbey for my day-to-day life. That said, as I  begin to host more gatherings with friends and family, I’m realizing I don’t want to lay out mismatched plates and plastic cutlery. In my opinion a quick and easy way to add a mature, elegant air is by investing in doilies made from yarn, paper or something else entirely.

If you’re a beginner, consider investing in a pack of the paper doilie. You can find them at an party supply or home goods store and are often pretty inexpensive. Also, paper doilies are often sold in large packs which can be saved for later crafting efforts. If you want to add a little elegance and class to your table any time of year, create a Silver Doily Centerpiece. Use spray paint and other embellishments to bring this piece to life. Doilies are also a great material to use for Christmas crafts. A Doily Angel can be used to decorate a mantel or tabletop. You can even add string and hang it on your tree – it will look great among a sea of traditional ornaments. You can also crochet your own Pretty Crochet Doily or use vintage pieces to decorate a pumpkin for Halloween. Vintage Doily Pumpkins offer a fun and simple alternative to traditional pumpkin carving crafts.

Don’t be afraid to class it up and add a delicate look to even the most average crafts. Whether you’re working with wine bottles or pumpkins, it’s always fun to add a delightful and delicate doily.

  1. Candle Holder from Glass Jar and Doilies from Katrinshine
  2. Doily Pumpkins from Allyson Baker Designs
  3. Lace Doily Bib Necklace from Stars for Streetlights
  4. Ring Bearer Pillow from Wholly Koa
  5. Paper Doily Decoupaged Bottle from Craftiments
  6. Doily Envelope from The Girls Room Online
  7. Burlap Doily Bunting from Lolly Jane
  8. Foldover Doily Clutch from Skirt a Stop
  9. Paper Doily Bowls from This Is Knockout

Wine Cork Wreath: Who doesn’t love winding down with a bottle of vino at the end of a stressful day? Save your corks throughout the year and use them for this super simple wreath craft. This project is so easy, even a beginner can make one. You simply need a Styrofoam wreath form, a hot glue gun and corks. Moonlight Yarn Madness & Knit & Crochet Movie Night

August 31, 2011 by TheCrochetCrowd

Spinrite Yarn Factory Outlet, makers of Bernat, Phentex, Lily Sugar’n Cream, and Patons Yarns is holding another Tent Sale on September 15, 16 and 17th, 2011.

Spinrite's Factory Outlet Store.

Massive Tent & Truck Sale at Spinrite Factory Outet in Listowel Ontario. Come early as the crowd that come create really long lines to get in on the deals.

Spinrite is located in Listowel Ontario Canada. In the last tent sale, people are traveling as far as Cape Bretton, Texas, Vancouver, and much more. They have made the event as part of vacations. As you can see, the level of enthusiasm at the annual event is absolutely out of this world. Meet one of my fans in this video that came to the Tent Sale in August.

This is the first time a 2nd tent sale is going to be done within a year. I will tell you that the stock that is being offered this time around is completely new and wasn’t available for the 1st Tent Sale. Truck loads of these new yarn lines are arriving and they need to clear it out to make room in the warehouse for new yarn lines.

They are calling it a sale but it’s practically a yarn giveaway at the prices that they are offering. For more information about the location of this sale you can go to YarnFactoryOutlet.com.

OH YEAH… the last tent sale was to have a movie and knit out night in our PJ’s. For those who attempted it a few weeks ago, you know it rained so hard it nearly blew us all away. It’s been rescheduled for Friday September 16, 2011. Check out the website or subscribe to their newsletter to have the monthly newsletter sent to you so you can see the juicy details and be first to know what’s happening!

If you would like to get your hands on some great free crochet patterns. Be sure to go to AllFreeCrochet.com.
