When I was in third grade, I did a class report on elephants. I checked out books from the library and began learning all about them. Every since then, I have been obsessed with elephants. I have elephant stuffed animals, elephant magnets on my fridge and multiple elephant necklaces. When I go to the zoo in my hometown, I can’t leave without a visit to see my favorite elephant, Raja.
When I found this project on AllFreeKnitting, I went crazy. Not only does it feature my all-time favorite animal, it is blue and orange (Go Illini!) This would be a great gift for a child or could serve as decoration on your desk. Either way, Flo this Elephant is my absolute favorite project. Try not to let out a big “Awwwww” when you look at the picture below.
What’s your favorite animal? Have you ever incorporated them into your projects? What did you make?

I love elephants and owls. I haven’t done anything with them in my crafting yet, but will have to try incorporating them soon. I do have some cute earrings that my dd made for me of owls that are made with Shrinky Dinks … they are so cool!
Lately, I’ve been on a owl kick. I love crafts with owls! I recently made the owl book ends!
so cute ^_^…
What an adorable elephant!
My 7 year old loves & collects elephants, even wore a homemade elephant costume one year for Halloween (I’m thinking age 3, maybe). I might just have to learn to knit so I can make this for him, or find someone who does know how to knit to make it
When I first saw this elephant I loved it too! I haven’t attempted to make it yet, but I have made a multicolor Caterpillar that was fun to do!
Sweet little elephant! I don’t knit. I have made several in cloth though.
I love rabbits! They are my all-time favorite animal. I have never made anything that has to do with rabbits, but now you’ve got my wheels turning…
I like cats and dogs. I have incorporated representations of both into my home’s decor at different times; but I’ve never incorporated them into my projects.
I love cats. I especially like using cat themed fabrics for various sewing projects.
Definitely owls: did a woodburned panel of an owl on a branch, made some owl pendant earrings and I think once I made an owl out of macaroni noodles, when I was 6.
Unfortunately, I am not an animal person. I love flowers and use them in my projects as much as possible.
My favorite animal too!! So cute!
That is so cute! I prefer monkeys but I haven’t incorporated any as of yet. I prefer crochet to knit and I just found a blanket with monkeys that I am going to attempt to make. I have also found many sock monkeys, but truly they are not my favorite form of monkey…I may have to make one and see if I can be swayed by it!
i did do the “awww”. funny. its really cute. it would look cute also in felted wool.
My favorite animal would be dogs. I have made dishcloths with a dog on them.
My favorite animals to knit are fish . . . and I’ve knit a bunch of them. My favorite other animals are the four footers who help me all day long.
I made a queen sized bedspread for my daughter with cats crocheted in each block. I personlly love dogs and hope to staart a throw for myself with my two dogs on it.
I love all animals…so far have crocheted a bunny, knit a turtle, sewn a teddy…can’t remember what else but more in store
My favorite animal is the dolphin, and yes I have crafted them. I have made dishtowels with them embroidered on them. I also made some beaded necklaces with glass dolphin pendents. Would love to find a knitting pattern for a dolphin!
It was that Elephant that attracted me to this blog. I grew up with my favorite toy looked just like it name was Elly Fant of course
I love birds. I collected bird cards when I was younger.I made a pillow with birds.
Elephants and owls are big this year, as well as bird Silhouettes.
Like your cute craft!
I have done a little quilling, but it has been a long time since quilling patterns have been in anyone’s site.
Oh I love this! I have to make one for my oldest daughter – she LOVEs elephants!
Thanks!
Maria
Cats! I have used some lovely Victorian style collage cat pictures in my cardmaking, and, of course, I have some cat rubber stamps, which I love. I’m hoping to make a needlefelted cat next.
Horses! and cats, but I have only included them in scrapbooking and not in other crafts.
I love pigs. So far I haven’t been able to use them in any of my crafts though.
Cats are my favorite! Haven’t included them in any of my crafts unless you count the added addition of cat hair to any project I have done. lol It is really hard not to get cat hair in everything I do when they are right beside me every time I am doing my crafts, it makes for quite a show at times, especially when I try to crochet and they think its play time with the yarn. HILAROUS!!!
I love penguins. I have dressed each of my kids as a penguin for Halloween (made the outfit myself), but that’s as far as I’ve gone with crafting my favorite animal.
The elephant is cute , I have never used my favorite animal in a project which is a bear.
lately I’ve made lots of owls.
I don’t really have a favorite animal, maybe, kittens, or bunnies, or any animal that’s a baby. I like to crochet amigurumi, anything that’s small & cuuute!!
I let my kids draw animals, well monsters really and then I made plush verssions of them.
This is really cute. I think I will make one for my granddaughter.
Any animal project is cute.
I really like the owl patterns. I enjoy taking pictures of animals and fish, birds from childrens colouring books and putting them in my crochet squares and making them up for gifts and for my grandchildren. The elephant is cute to.
I am currently making an amigurumi sock monkey — but my all time favorite animal (and my next amigurumi project) is a cat!
My boys think their crocheted animals are the best! LOVE this elephant.
need this in a crochet and don’t know how to translate into crochet pattern. the question was have I incorporated my favorite animal into a craft-my favorite animals are horses and tigers and I have put them both into a quilt pattern.
Hmmmm I really couldn’t tell you what’s my favourite animal as I love all animals. So far I’ve made a couple of hooked wall hangings depicting a sheepdog, and a racoon. I did an owl string art wall hanging. I did a fabric painting of a horse drawn buggy. I’ve made coats and toys for my various pets. I made several “bed octopuses” over the years. Geez, I don’t know what other projects I did incorporating animals. Oh yeah, come to think of it, I did wood burnings of ducks, moose, and deer too. Probably a few other things I can’t think of at the moment now too. But yeah, I love animals and use their likenesses for lots of projects.
OMG. I LOVE elephants and had one when I lived in Tampa.Even worked for the circus and carnivals just to be around them. lol.””quote–I have elephant stuffed animals, elephant magnets on my fridge and multiple elephant necklaces.”” You aught to see my collection, from stuffed pachyderms, jewelry, rings, magnets and others. Can’t get enough of ’em.
Is this elephant ever cute. Will have to try my hand at making it.
The animals are cute. My favorite ones are bears. I crocheted a Nik and Susie bear for my two little ones. And I made a pink dress and green outfits to dress them in.

If I show this elephant to a friend of mine, she will harass me to no end unless I make this for her. Yes! She LOVES elephants!
I have no favorites. Love them all. This is adorable. If I made this, I would have to hide it from my friend. She would go on & on why it should be her’s, why didn’t I make her one……… She may even take mine!
