How to Make Mother’s Day Gifts: Gift Basket Ideas

April 14, 2010 by FaveCrafts 1 Comment

Mother’s day, just like any other holiday will be here before you know it. So why not get ahead of the game and start your gift giving ideas now. I personally think one of the best gifts to give your mom is a homemade gift like a gift basket. This is such a neat gift because you can fill it with anything you wish. Personalize it with all her favorite things to make it extra special for mom.

Some fun things you can fill the gift basket with:

Nail Treatments– You can put all kinds of goodies for her nails in here such as nail polish, nail clippers, nail files, toe separators, cuticle tools and even a scrubber for those feet.

Spa package– You can fill the basket with a mini neck pillow, a foot massager, a loofah, bath bubbles, nice smelling soaps, body scrubs and even a good book to dive into. Candles always make for a nice gift as well.

Something from the Kids– Fill the basket with all her favorite candies. The kids can use paint to make their hand prints on a piece of paper. Once dried, they can frame it for a precious gift that will never go out of style.

To Make these Fun Baskets:

Buy a basket of any size you wish. The wicker baskets are always nice to use because you can reuse them in any room of the house. You can then fill the basket with some fun grass (the plastic grass used for Easter baskets). I would use a white or pink color for Mother’s Day. If you really want to get creative you can glue some fun embellishments to the outside of the basket. You can find some fun flowers or gems that will make it sparkle.

Once you have all your goodies gathered you can place them around the basket in a nicely organized fashion. I always have fun with this because you can pile things on top of each other and decide what looks best next to each other. When you are satisfied with the way it looks you can take some clear cellophane and wrap it around the basket. Take any color ribbon and tie it around the top. I then like to curl the ends of the ribbon for a nice presentation.

For the final touch you can make a nice card with all your loving words to mom.
