Father’s Day is around the corner and we think that store-bought gifts are just a little boring. Unused ties, Best Dad mugs, and golf balls are all collecting dust this year. It may seem like there are no other options for Father’s Day, but I can assure you that handmade gifts are the way to go. My dad still has some of my childhood artwork on his desk and hanging on his walls. I still stand by my motto: Happiness is Handmade.
Where to start? To make things easier for you, I’ve divided up our best “Dad Crafts” into categories so you can pick the right craft project to make. Start thinking about what your dad really likes and I’m sure you’ll make his day this Father’s Day!

I couldn’t agree more with this post: hand-made is the way to go! As a recent college grad, my budget has been tight the last couple years, so, I have been forced to get crafty when it comes to gifting. Since my dad falls under the “At-Home Bartender” category, last Father’s Day I made him a recipe box complete with recipes for all of his favorite cocktails (and a few newbies for him to try out). Despite how inexpensive the gift was, it was a huge hit! My dad likes to bring out the recipe box when he is entertaining to whip up drinks for everyone to sample. I made mine from a tin box that I bought at Hobby Lobby, but the possibilities are endless. It was a great way to make a gift my dad can actually put to use.
As a daddy’s girl, I must admit my father still has a card I made him for his birthday when I was in elementary school. Gifts from the heart, the ones you slaved on and remade three times just to get it right, those are the ones worth saving. The trend toward DIY gifts is something that makes me ecstatic. Not only is creating a gift more personal and rewarding for the giver, the look in the eyes of the receiver is priceless. These Father’s Day crafts are perfect to bring out the creative side and imagination each child is dying to discover.
